Astro, I am going to have to take issue with you and this entire instructable.
You could have just soldered a 9V battery strap to your power supply cord and have been done with it (i.e. no instructable needed) but you have chosen to use this as an opportunity to spread propaganda about your political views. THIS IS NOT THE PLATFORM AND THE MODERATORS SHOULD HAVE DELETED THE WHOLE POST!
What I am lost on is if you are serious or if this is a lame attempt at humor. Either way I am going to report the instructable and I am going to respond to the political view because you opened the door.
There has been a big “push” in recent years to attempt to organize the entire world into some sort of State Capitalism or State Communism and it is being sold as a kinder gentler communism. It’s the same old communism and the same old collection of lies. Here are your statements, Astro with the truth stated below them.
“In a perfect world, everyone would have food and shelter, and a true society would be devoid of sexism, racism and other forms of oppression. Communism is one proposed solution to these problems.”
And in a “perfect” world there would be no natural weather shifts, no meteors that could crush us, no deadly diseases to kill us, no sadness of any kind. What a truly untruthful view of things. Communism is but another form of oppression and has NEVER been a solution to any problem. It goes against the grain of the very nature of the world, mankind, and every living thing on the planet. This is the very reason it fails every time.
“Most people know what communism is at its most basic level. Simply put, communism is the idea that everyone in a given society receives equal shares of the benefits derived from labor.”
Communism is the Government benefiting from other’s labor and deciding what portion of the fruits of that labor that everyone in a given society receives.
“Communism is designed to allow the poor to rise up and attain financial and social status equal to that of the middle-class landowners. In order for everyone to achieve equality, wealth is redistributed so that the members of the upper class are brought down to the same financial and social level as the middle class.”
Communism is designed to force the middle-class landowners to surrender THEIR land to the government and become poor just like the lower class. The poor don’t rise up and attain financial and social status, they stay poor. Because the financial classes are forced to be equal there is no more incentive to be creative, inventive, or to work harder than anybody else (the government will decide who does that). There will be no rewards for individualism, or differing/dissenting opinions we all must be the same or suffer the consequences. There is little to no free will. You must comply. This is your payment for having government supplied food, shelter and clothing.
Wealth is redistributed so that the members of the upper class are brought down to the same financial and social level as the middle class because they must be punished for attaining wealth. Never mind the fact that the wealthy (or their families) have worked hard or sacrificed play to EARN the wealth, childish fairness and jealousy is the only thing that matters here. Now that the wealthy have been taken down, never to be allowed to rise again, and their wealth redistributed who is going to supply that revenue stream again?
There are always things that get left out in the explanation of communism because that would require the truth of the system to come out.
The communistic society will not be classless like they claim it to be. It is a lie.
There will actually be 3 classes:
The General Population – The worker, the store operator, pretty much 75-80% of the population will fall into this category.
The Government Worker – Everyone from the Factory Supervisor, the Imperial Police Officer, to the local Mayor will fall into this category and they will not be very popular amongst the poor, working class, General Population. These are the people charged with the responsibility of keeping the workers “in-line”.
The Uber Elite – This is the class that always gets left out. These are the extremely wealthy and they will continue to be so and stand to gain more wealth from this system. Communism is the most oppressive form of government that exists and it always ends up full of bribery and corruption. The elite will never be controlled by the government; they ARE the government in this system. They decide the fate of the nation (world), it’s people and it’s resources, not the people that provide the labor.
“Communism also requires that all means of production be controlled by the state. In other words, no one can own his or her own business or produce his or her own goods because the state owns everything.”
EXACTLY! This is not an anecdotal comment thrown at the bottom, it is the only truth in the whole post.
“Yes we are all equal but every single kind of political direction focus on difference, exept communism.”
It is hard to even respond to this lie. This is so far off to the super-extreme left and such a misrepresented lie that all I can say is that you seriously need to spend a few months studying world history and not the filtered history books that the comrades have given you. Read my friend, the truth shall set you free.

The State in a communistic system is driven by the extremely wealthy elite. They decide it and you must follow, or else. Everybody else has the same nothing. All are equally poor. If you actually believe that the people collectively own everything and the State is the people, you have believed the propaganda.
The idea looks great on paper but it forgets human nature. Power hunger and greed always set in. The people in this system own nothing. The State owns all and it can come and take anything it wants whenever it wants.

Once again, you have bought into the propaganda my friend. You have learned at the re-education camps well. Communism has everything to fear and the least of it is because nobody wants to share. Wanting to obtain goals like wealth or being the best guitar player or collecting stamps or whatever it is, is not evil. No man has the right to discriminate on the basis of color, race, religion, or disability. Nor does any man have the right to decide how much another man may earn or how much wealth is enough. Funny thing is, God gave us all the opportunity to do something with our lives and it is up to us to do something about it. You want something, go earn it. It will never be OK to redistribute it because YOU are greedy.

This isn't a Battery-less wah, it's a wah that you've castrated, leaving it nothing but external power.
Next time just add the dc jack, which can even be a 1/8" mono headphone jack (if you make/buy an adapter for the 3.5mm dc jack) and don't try to make it look like you made yourself an un-powered wah

Simply use a switching P4 jack instead of the diodes. And the diodes provides a voltage drop, slightly, but does. Try using the easy-to-find 1N4148 or 1N914.

I suggest to add two diodes to your project: Either 1A silicon (1N4004) or better yet, 1A shottky (1N5819) diode. You'll have to install one diode between your brown (anode) and your red (cathode, banded) wire and the other diode between the battery's positive terminal (Anode) and together with the other diode (two cathodes soldered together) to the red wire. The purpose of this setup is to allow you to either use the power supply or a bettery. That can prove useful if you ever forget your power supply. And if ever you connect both your power supply and a battery to the wah pedal, no current will flow between the power supply and the battery. Accidently charging an alkaline battery will lead to unwanted surprises unless you want a smoke show in your rock concert !
