Introduction: Beautiful Easy Updo

About: I have been sewing and crafting for several years, my children are grown so now I have lots of time to be creative. I enjoy photography, cooking, cake decorating, painting and sharing my projects with others.

Have you wanted to fix your shoulder-length hair into a pretty updo this Summer? Here's how to do that without going to a salon. You can have a cute hairdo in about an hour.

Step 1: Supplies

For this hairdo you will need:

Hot rollers or curling iron, ponytail holder, plastic hairbun shaper (I purchased mine from a dollar store, it was about $3), comb, bobby pins, hairspray.

Step 2: Curl Hair

Using hot rollers or curling iron, curl hair. The more curls, the better!

You could also use the pink foam rollers, but those take longer.

Step 3:

Step 4: Ponytail

Comb your hair up into a high ponytail and secure tightly with a coated ponytail holder. Do not use a rubber band, it will tear the hair. Pin up any loose hairs with bobby pins.

Step 5: Chignon Form

Because I have very thin hair, I like to use this lightweight chignon form to wrap my hair around, it makes my hair look fuller. You can get one in a darker color if your hair is dark brown or black.

Place a small amount of hair around the plastic form, tuck underneath and pin in place. Continue around the form, leaving most of the hair unpinned.

Step 6: Tease Hair

Tease the remaining hair with your comb.

Step 7: Pin and Spray

Using more bobby pins, pin the teased hair loosely to the base of the updo. Spray liberally with hairspray.

Embellish with a ribbon or silk flower.
