My granola was loosely based on a recipe from Sunset Magazine, but I changed the ingredients and didn't measure anything. Even so it came out delicious.
When done, optionally donate your granola to the homeless to achieve the "liberal" part of the Instructable.
Step 1: Mix dry ingredients together
I used something like:
3 c Oats, quick or old fashioned
1 T White sesame seeds
1/2 c Sunflower seeds
1/2 c Pecan pieces
1 c Slivered almonds
(The original ecipe had called for nonfat dried milk. By leaving this out you have a vegan delight.
It also suggested wheat germ and unsweetened coconut. )
Step 2: Boil wet ingredients then mix in
1/2 c honey
1/4 c brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Bring to a boil.
When boiling and liquified, remove from heat and mix in vanilla.
Pour and mix into the dry ingredients.
Step 3: Bake spread on a pan
Oil the pan (I used spray which worked fine).
A regular sized jelly roll pan (cookie sheet with edges) works well.
Bake for 15 min. Then turn it over.
If desired add dried fruit or raisins at this point.
Bake 10 min longer.
Step 4: Let it cool and break it up
Break into whatever size chunks you like and enjoy!
