I had practiced Ninjutsu for 8 years. I have practiced under Dennis Mohoney in New Hampshire for about 5 of those years and with Jeff Neer as a close friend and instructor. I happen to know that by doing meditation and "figuring out your morals" is not what you need to become a Ninja. In fact Ninjutsu has a VERY specific code and spirituallity of it's own. You need to study under a real teacher, and actually know something that is taught through rigorous training with A REAL human being. To become a Ninja one must study the nine schools, or sections of Ninjutsu. There is actually a real place in Japan where Sensai Dr. Hatsumi Masaaki teaches. He is the Grand Master of Ninjutsu in the school in Japan whose name translates the the "Divine Hall of Warriors." You cannot learn Ninjustu from a book, written by Hatsumi or otherwise. There are gaps between pictures of things you do not see. There are only so many words that can describe techniques. Anyone who claims to be Ninja after reading a few books and getting info off the internet is going to be sadly mistaken if/and/or when they step into an actual decent Ninjutsu school. I feel it is wrong to post something saying that one can be ninja after doing X and X. Ninjustu is a lifestyle and requires much work. I, who have studied the art for 8 years, five of which was hard training 3 or 4 times a week for several hours each time, do not consder myself Ninja and feel I would disgrace the actual people who train in the Hall of Warriors by even suggesting such a thing. So to see people write about becoming a Ninja without rigorous training and actually going to Japan (which is nececarry to become a REAL Ninja) is, quite frankly, upsetting, even to me. It took Dennis 15 years, I believe, to become a black belt with much harder training than I have ever undergone. The path of the Ninja is hard, and the path was not for me, as I have family and do not have the time or the passion to continue persuit of the art. I did, however, take it very seriousely when I did study the art. So to throw a few big Japanese words around, and show a few hand symbols which are actually CHINESE (hello, the CHINESE calendar) is a very misleading to people who may actually want to follow the DIFFICULT path of the Ninja. I ask, out of honor, that whoever writes this to not do so in the future, or at least to do so with a bit more truth and honor.

wow.... you rly know alot of this stuff XD I'm only 13 though & I live in Belgium so I see no way to fly over to Japan or something :'D haha :P Anyways, it wasn't like I would actually believe that just by reading books that you could become a ninja anyway. It's just that I really think it's a pity there aren't any classes you can follow to become the closest to a ninja that human beings could get in Belgium. Ofcourse, Ninjutsu isn't something humans can do, but it would be pretty cool to come close to it :) Or to be able to meditate in a solemn rock position or something :D If I could sit perfectly still, just like they can, and absolutely not move at all, I would already be happy. Just get a tiny bit closer to a worthy human, that would be cool. If only someone would teach me how XD

I'm pretty skinny to but i woop but in school fights and rugby. Everyone calls it crapshitsu after i woop there buts in front of there friends. It's funny because people pick on me and i'm not very popular but I am tough from 3 years of farm work such as shovelling cow crap, haying, and lots of other stuff

look...I trust you've done all that....you say..but I think that you don't need to be tutored,of course...if you can that is great, but have you come to a thought that someone maybe can't go to Japan...huh? And there is more to being a ninja...your a ninja if you think, and feel like one...if you can't do ninjutsu, you still can be the best in taijutsu...and most importantly is to believe in yourself,to have a goal and dream and to push through any difficulty in your life...and to never give up and to have hope, that is the main key....because your whole life is one battle field...and you chose weapons.... there is a say,it is from anime, but still has a meaning:earth represents your body, and heaven your mind....when you make a balance between your physical ability and your mind...you'll become the greatest ninja of all(I think some people know from which anime is this)...oh I got a little carried away,by my thoughts...I hope we agree on some things,because....I think we are kinda a like....maybe it's a mistake you think about it....I wish we could be friends...because maybe you can teach me something about ninjutsu....or not...but still I somehow see a great person in you...

You'v studied Ninjutstu as well? You might not Believe me But I'm currently under the teachings of The Shattered Past Shinobi I actually found him from a very unreliable source and after I begged Him for a Year and A half He finally started Teaching me I must tell you. Taking the road of A Shinobi Is one filled with Regret and Misery someone Who Isn't Ready and Able to help there Friends and Die for them better find another way. That is all I have to say on this subject.

I think it's interesting that the people who commented on this instructable seem to know more about being a ninja than the author... Maybe we should all collab on a great big instructable on how to be a ninja?

this is an insult to the very word ninja. btw nxt time post something USEFUL
Jan 31, 2008. 4:25 PMkerpaul says:
this is wrong on so many level i dont know where to start. first off, you SAY that you're teaching ppl to be ninjas, but your only telling them what to do...like keith said. second, just sitting there meditating will NOT make you a friggin ninja. good lord. third, fancy picture effects DO NOT make it look professional. im actually looking to study ninjutsu, but as JCsavage said, it look like i have to go to japan for that. oh well, maybe someday.

again, you can't learn to be a ninja on the internet. you can GET STARTED and find where instructors are, but this instructable doesn't really teach you anything.
Mar 6, 2008. 3:20 PMLandon Sullivan says:
dude, you are stupid. your i'ble doesn't teach anything, so just delete it and make everyone else's lives easier. plus you stole this from Wikihow with citing your sources. Plagiarizer.
Mar 12, 2008. 3:21 PMYummyPancakes says:
So? Why not take good, clean knowledge from one community and share it with another? If you really "AM_NINJA", then you shouldn't be saying stuff like that.
Apr 17, 2008. 3:24 PMLandon Sullivan says:
1) he didn't cite his sources 2) the instructions don't teach anything. 3) my account name is only that because the guy on Ask A Ninja thinks that I am ninja. But not you. I don't think you are ninja. Neither does he.
Apr 17, 2008. 7:03 PMYummyPancakes says:

Or you could tell how to make nun-chucks or something cool like that. Kind of like what Kieth said.
Mar 1, 2008. 8:50 PMGrey_Wolfe says:
Nunchuku are not actually a traditional Ninja weapon. They're not even a traditional asain weapon of any sort. Nunchuku were created by Hollywood because it looks 'Kung-Fu esque'. Though the design is based off some traditional asain weapons and tools, nunchuku are just movie toys. (Not that one cannot learn to use it as an effective weapon, as some martial arts schools have done.)
Mar 15, 2008. 8:54 PMninja of darkness says:
um nunchuku were used by the ninja they were used for breaking someone's neck, strangling people and executing wrist-locks as well as bashing skulls
Mar 12, 2008. 3:25 PMYummyPancakes says:
Actually, Nunchucks are real. I was in Taekwondo once, and I got to use them all the time. Except we called them "Sanjaban."
May 27, 2008. 12:39 AMGrey_Wolfe says:
I mentioned that.
