WARNING: Be SURE to check local laws before starting some areas of the US esp its still Illegal to home brew other areas have a limit to how much you can brew in a year with out a brewers licence Also IT STINKS like a rotten skunk when your doing it so don't thinmk you can out smart anyone if you know what brewing smells like you'll smell it Blocks away

Home brewing doesn't stink. And you can't smell it from far away. It makes whatever room it's brewing in smell like someones baking bread in there and that's it. (Smells good to me) If a rotten skunk smell down the block is your case then you should check your brewing techniques cause something is seriously wrong.

My 5 batches that i've done so far smell like baking bread too. Don't know the stink your talking about. I agree with omnibot, i'd have poured them down the sink if they smelled that bad.

I've had a lifetime of experience with homebrewing and I've smelled the smell you speak of .. it means there's something wrong with the process and the whole batch goes down the sink, the equipment needs lots of cleaning or even replacing and don't use that space again.

Well, it happens. Prolly you had a bacterial culture in the area. Funny that it turned out nice though. I've tried some "funky" beers and now I just throw out the whole batch if it starts to smell wierd.
