Beer bottle cap lure

The beer bottle cap lure works really great! I've used it many time in lakes or rivers. It is mostly a reeling and casting lure or if you troll in a boat.

Another of those classic DIY tricks from years gone by. People have been doing this as long as bottles have been using metal caps. I remember doing it as a kid, when my dad showed me. His dad taught him... and so on.

It can also be found in almost every old book on fishing you'll run across. I have some going back tot he early 30's and it's in them.

I do find that the bottle cap spoons are a bit light for casting, so I add a hefty split shot sinker about 18" in front of them. This also helps to get the light metal lure down to the depths where underwater structure is found. That is important - 90% of all water is "dead," meaning no fish are there. You have to put the lure where the fish are at and that means underwater structure.

Add 4-6 BB pellets to these to increase their weight add a rattle and catch more fish, I use them and have caught some nice fish on them, especially red/silver gold/black and green/red.

maybe you could describe how to attach the ring and the hook. it would help with teaching people how to make this lure.

In that video of the news cast it sounded like the weights made a rattling noise too. That could make a big difference in muddy water. Im going to have to make one of these!
