Step 9: Explore Beyond the Walls of Walt Disney World

And that's my list of things to do at Walt Disney World for free. Enjoy your trip, and I hope this list will save you some money by giving you some ideas of what do do besides going to the theme parks.

If you're feeling really brave, I also recommend that you leave Disney property on your vacation, although the person I described in the Introduction wouldn't do that. There is a whole city outside of Disney's walls, filled with lots of things to see and do! Go explore Downtown. Go swim in a natural springs. See some wild alligators. Go to a museum. There is lots of other stuff to do in the Orlando area!

And most of all, have fun on your trip...

This is a great write up, and I love your pictures. Thank you so much for this informative write up. And even though you didn't "make" anything, I know your research and information was very time consuming to acquire. good work!

I have found lots of free things at Disney... the Ghiradelli chocolate shop gives out free samples in their store, no purchase needed. Also in EPCOT, you can get free souveniers-the Kidcot lanyards in Future world and the masks in World showcase. Also, in Innoventions, there are all sorts of freebies-velcro frogs, free internet postcards, etc.

Great info, but I would like to add that if you do not like hot, steamy weather then you should avoid August. Thanks

hey, that's pretty cool. I had 2 go there in may 4 the Disney Performing Arts program (It's middle schools, and high schools play at the stage in Downtown Disney)and had went on and did a few of the things u mentoned. I rode the boat, watched the firework show there(all 3 days), and there was a convention on the new Segway,(U no the ones...) and that was free, but I couldn't ride them.(No parent around, and not old enough 2 sign the release on my own.)The train thing in Tomorrowland I did ride, and I am wondering why u didn't mention the train that circles the park?(the things that are supposedly Walt's personal ones when he went out west, or was salvaged by him... I wasn't really paying attention that day.)

I didn't mention the train in the Magic Kingdom because you need to pay park admission to ride. The People Mover in Tomorrowland was mentioned because that was sort of a test for a method of transportation in Walt Disney's plans for EPCOT, which evolved into Celebration.
