Best of 2009: Best of Each Category

To celebrate the end of the year we already looked at the top 50 lists for comments, views, and ratings, but this time we're going to break it down by category. What's below is the top 10 list for each category in terms of views.

Of course, being popular does not absolutely imply that an Instructable is the best. Please view this list as an introduction to each of the categories.

technicley knex is a catagory in a catagory go to play now look 7 down and 24 up you'll see a sub-catagory called K'NEX (technicily sub-catagorys are catagorys) look you just found a catagory called K'NEX

Looking at "Explore" on the sidebar to filter by category, "Knex" is one of them. And it's a category on the forums.

We should have a category for cumulative that credits authors who are more prolific but don't have a single "monster" instructable. The category should probably include only folks who have contributed at least one instructable this year so that older ones don't dominate simply because they have age advantage unless the author is still actively contributing in which prolific counts...

Guys, I don't get this. My How to make a NES portable Instructable (www.instructables.com/id/How_to_Make_a_Portable_Game_System/) should have been in 1st for ratings, 2nd for comments, and 12th for views. WHat happened here?

These broad categories are unfair to narrowly defined niche interests! These "view-based" lists are a travesty! It's almost as if the Instructables crew believes that just because an Instructable generates tons of views, that means a lot of people wanted to look at it! Nonsense!

Niche interests deserve to be overrepresented on this site, simply by virtue of the amount of complaining that happens when they're not. With that in mind, I hereby request, nay, demand that new categories be created immediately for Halloween-Costumes-Of-Aging-70's-Glam-Rockers-In-Platform-Boots, Chocolate-Candies-Made-From-Cheese, and Non-Pyrotechnic-Blood-Special-Effects-For-The-Stage-(Not-Film)-That-Were-Not-Made-By-Crosius. Only then will this inequity be rectified. Thank you.
