wow, so many ideas, so little money. When there's a will there's a way, and the dump shall provide my way. (my idea consists of batteries, power controller, alternator, neons, two high power LED's, i-touch and sub woofers, I doubt it can be done, but I'll give it a go.)

I have a 1987 Panasonic road bike. I'm currently painting it and I'm making a glowing LED cassette tape license plate for it. It'll be 80's ownage when I'm done with it. It even has original gumwall tires on it.

I just saw a Panasonic at the thrift for 12 bucks, shoulda got it :-( Actually as I recall they had a racing team, which would right away suggest they were very good bikes. Panasonic also built bikes for Schwinn due to Schwinn's need for a low-cost manufacturer with high quality standards...They had SunTour and Shimano groups. Production ended in 1989 when Mr. Matsushita Died. So yeah, good bikes, lol.

Yea, I actually repainted mine because the old red paint was scratched a bit when I got it. I added a kickstand to stop future scratches lol. I love the tires on it, but they're getting bald, so the original tires will be gone when i get enough money.

Panasonic makes (or made) bikes?
Jun 23, 2009. 11:14 AMMr6507 says:
Yea, back in the '80's they were actually very common. Many are probably in a junkyard or landfill by now.
Jun 23, 2009. 7:58 PMTwoNibblesMakeAByte says:
Were they any good?
Jun 24, 2009. 4:22 PMMr6507 says:
It depends on what you consider "good". I took mine on a bike ride yesterday for at least 10 miles and the chain popped off twice, but that was because of me messing with my front derailer(shifter). I consider them "good".

I picked up a MTB at a garage sale last weekend for $5. I had to run new brake lines, clean the shifters (old dried grease) and add some small parts. total investment is about $35. they had other ones for $10 -$15, that didn't need parts, but this ended up being a much nicer bike. Used to sell for about $400 a couple of yrs ago

second hand stores, craigslist, police auctions, private sellers, etc. it takes some time and patience, but they're around.

How do you post a guide? I clicked on the submit link and it isn't there.

It is genial the idea to do these collections. They are more useful than the labels. Or at least, they will be more used. (Genial la idea de hacer estas recopilaciones. Son más útiles que las etiquetas. O por lo menos, van a ser más usadas),
