I got interested in it when I found a dead bat; taxidermed and mounted it:

im going to try it but it looks really hard there is a dead bird in my yard do you think there is any other way to perserve the whole body

 You should really carve a body out of styrofoam, instead of using cotton. And learn to wire the legs and head, and put in fake eyes. For the wings, you should skin them down to at least the elbow, and take out all of the meat, but leave the bone, and stuff lightly with cotton.

This bird isn't technically mounted at all. It's preserved, and stuffed.

It looks a bit silly, but if it's what you want, it's good for you. (:

Did I miss the part where you use the wire? How did you dry and clean it up after it was stitched? What about the wings?

When do you put bird in microwave? How long? What power?

thats pretty cool, i think i'll try it too. how bout the skin on the feet? don't they get all shrivled up when they dry?

well, I leave everything in the legs and feet, and it dries pretty nicely.

Well, I don't think I'm going to try it, for lack of chicken or a yard mostly, but I always wondered how it's done, and your instruction are really good, so now I know! Thanks! It looks beautiful by the way - and you got much better in the second attempt.
