Introduction: Black Rock Shooter: the Flaming Eye

Picture of Black Rock Shooter: the Flaming Eye

I have been meaning to publish this instructable for a while, but I couldn't find the jump drive with the pictures. Well I recently found it so here I am. This is my version of the flaming eye that characters in the anime OVA Black Rock Shooter have. My fabrication is a bit different than others I have seen in that it is designed to be worn like a pair if glasses. I hope you enjoy it.

Step 1: What Does It Take

Picture of What Does It Take

You will need the following things for this instructable.

Heat gun

Drill

Scroll saw or coping saw

Blue acrylic clip board for Black Rock Shooter (red for Black Goldsaw and green for Black Devil Girl)

A cheap pair of round glasses

Step 2: The Hole Thing

Drill small pilot holes so it will be easier to progress as you saw your pattern out. I pretty much drilled a hole at the tips of the flames and bottom of each curve. Now saw out your pattern.

Step 3: Mold News

Now you will use your heat gun to mold your flames. At a low setting heat each flame (one at time) until you are able to bend it into shape. DO NOT HEAT DIRECTLY ON ANYONES HEAD/fFACE. I used a 6 inch PVC pipe I had on hand to start initial curves. Let it cool and have your wearer try it on. From here you can see where you may have to do some tweaks and heat and mold. Again DO NOT HEAT DIRECTLY ON YOUR WEARERS HEAD/FACE. Take your time so you do not over bend. Heat-bend-cool-check. After you have your shape, heat the little points and form them as if they are flickering like a real flame. For Black Devil Girl you will insert the round glasses and glue into place (do not use super glue it will ruin the surface of the acrylic board).

Step 4: Ta Da!

And there you are, Flaming Eyes!

Happy to be an inspiration

You ought to use a "finished" photo at the start of the instructable. I suggest the gentleman with the horns...

Thank you

Nice job of sourcing the acrylic clipboard for plastic. How do you hold it in place while wearing it?

Dadime (author)24Eng2014-07-03

I was able to form them pretty well that they held on without any other device, but for added insurance we used hair clips
