Blowgun and Ammo

Step 5Firing

Firing
Use a pencil to push the projectile into the blowgun.

For pointy ammo: Not much to it, just raise the gun to your mouth, aim it at the target, and give a strong steady blow until the ammo leaves the barrel.

For the explody ammo: Needs an extremely powerful blow to get it to ignite the matches, also needs a pretty solid target. I am currently working on a system that uses those "party-snaps" to ignite a powder, they seem to have a closer sensitivity to what would be the ideal for this project. They are simply tiny rocks coated with silver fulminate, Ill update if I can get a working dart made using them.

For the zappy ammo: Charge the capacitor just before you insert it in the tube. You can charge it by touching the leads to the 2 fingers on a tazer glove, or the charging contacts from a disposable camera. It is a good idea to wear rubber gloves when handling the capacitor to prevent getting shocked. Insert the capacitor into the tube and give a good strong blow. When the it hits the target, as long as it is not an insulator, all the voltage will be dumped into it.

maybe some sand paper a couple millimeters away from the match head would work?

try lining the end of your barrel with sand paprer and the match will come out on fire

it would only work with strike anywhere matches because other matches have stuff on the striker that makes it ignite, the strike anywhere has 2 chemicals and the strike on box has 1 and the other on the striker, when they mix it ignites, you could use strike on box now that i think about that but if you used strike on box you would need the striker

does the copper tubing come in smaller sizes for small objects or would smaller tubing holes cause a risk of bending or breaking? pls send me a message on this if you can!

could NI3 w/e its called be used? that stuff seems sensitive enough to use as long as you could come up with a way to store it. and not for it to blow up when you blow on the dart. what do you think?

ok, next idea. flash powder roughly 10mg or so and flint out of those snap thingys. it would give a nice bang but be less sensative than the NI3.
