Introduction: Boa Paracord Gun Sling

About: I'm multi-talented: I can talk and piss you off at the same time What you don't have an idea of who I am? Well sorry love, your loss. I just ain’t in the mood to sit here and write it all out for yah, so …

I made this for my husband and decided that it was a good idea to make an instructable for the Boa Braid because it took me some time to find any reference to it let alone how to do it step by step. I hope that I am able to explain it well enough for you to make this braid for what ever use you with to use it for.

This Gun Sling is about 54" because my husband is a tall man and it fits him a little loosely. He decided on the double color but you can use one color as well. I will do my best to explain both ways.

Step 1: Items Needed

1. 4'6" 2x2 board *I used 2 framing nails on each end to hold my sling clips in place while I worked. Trust me its easier to do this with then without*

2. 100" paracord *Hobby Lobby has this in many colors. For a two color Sling you need about 50" of each color.*

3. Sling Clips *My husband picked these up at Wal-Mart for cheap. I'd advise asking a clerk for help if you are unsure what type to use             for your weapon.*

4. Scissors

5. Lighter

6. Tape *Not shown in my picture sorry.*

Step 2:

1. Thread the ends of the paracord into one side of the clip and tape the ends down onto itself with about an inch down. *If you are using one color you'll want to cut your 100" paracord into two 50" cords and fallow the same steps. There are other ways but this is easiest to keep from mixing up your braid later on*

2. Figuring out your length;
For a person of average build about 5"-5"6', you'll want about a 40' sling.
For a person of average build about 5"7'-5"10', you'll want about a 45' sling.
For a person of average build about 5"11'-6"3, you'll want about a 50" sling.
If the carrier is a heavier build add 2-3' to the length of your sling.

Step 3:

1. Thread the other end to the length desired and wrap the "stray ends" back up towards the top of your braid.

2. I taped the middle two strands onto the board to help me not to get the strands mixed up while braiding. *This was very helpful and             made things move along smoothly*

Step 4: Start Braiding

1
Starting with the left strand, place it over the two middle strands and the outer strand on the right.

Step 5:

2
Now slide the right strand under the two middle strands but over the left strand.

Pull the ends tightly up towards your clip.

Step 6:

3
Staring on the right, slide the right stray strand over the outer right side, under the two middle, then over the outer left strand.

4
Slide the left stray strand under the outer left strand, over the middle two, then under the outer right strand.

5
Pull the ends tightly up towards your clip.

Step 7:

6
Slide the right stray strand over the outer right side, under the two middle, then over the outer left strand.

7
Slide the left stray strand under the outer left strand, over the middle two, then under the outer right strand.

8
Pull the ends tightly up towards your clip.

**Notice these are the same steps as 3,4 &5. Basically you do these three step all the way to the end. I wont lie, a project this size in braiding took me about 12 hours {I did eat and watched TV as I worked so who knows, you maybe faster}**

Step 8: Wrapping Things Up

1
Keep the last three braid lines loose so you can slide your stray strands through the middle.

Step 9:

 2
Tighten the braid around your stray strands

Step 10:

3
Cut the stray strands about a quarter inch from the braid

4
Use your lighter to burn the ends of the stray and tuck them into your braid.

Step 11: All Done!

Now you just attach your finished project to the gun and enjoy.

Happy hunting! :)
