Bobbin for braiding lanyards and such

When making lanyards and the like, you have a lot of cord hanging around.  It can get tangled up very easily as you twist and loop the cords.

One way to help prevent this from happening is to use a simple bobbin.  The bobbin can be made from a plastic jug, cardboard, or other thin, slightly flexible substance.  Size depends on how much cord you need to hold and how thick the cord is.  Just cut to the illustrated pattern, wind the cord around the bobbin, and put the end under the "hook" on top.

how big is it from one end to the other

That one was made larger than usual so it would show up better in the pictures. You would determine the size of one you'd make based on the thickness of the cord and the amount you need to wind on.

The one in the picture is about 5.5" long by 3.5" wide, or 14cm by 9cm.
