Book of Spells box

Book of Spells box

This project is to make an antique-looking book of spells, that a witch or wizard might own.
In addition to being a cool-looking prop, it's also a handy box to  keep treasures in.
(eye of newt,  bat wings, etc)

I really like that box/book ! I need to look around more at craft stores instead oif just going in for what I want ! Several years ago I made a book of magic out of 2 old encyclopedias this year I redid it as the book of the undead using thick brown paper as "skin" I printed labels but then ruined one by using to thick a paint for antiquing so I hand painted over it which looks a lot better than the one I didn't "ruin" !

i like your method more than the instructable. Craft stores by use do not have many of the ready made instructables =)

My way does give you an actually opening prop to display and let our patrons examine, since I turned the book so the back is the front and the top the bottom it even looks like strange writing. I like this "ible" idea for many reasons not the least being that they give hidden storage while adding ambiance to a display, one draw back to my double encyclopedia book is that it weighs more than my 9month old grandson ! I do appreciate your comment, for a look at my book stay tuned for my soon to be posted Haunted House "ible"
