Introduction: Bookmark Bling

About: I am married with two children. Spring, summer, and fall are my very favorite times of the year. I enjoy working in the yard, sewing, cooking, quilting, gardening, and creating. I do this to keep my sanity.

I strive to make things from throwaway items.  I enjoy working with inner-tubes.  I have been trying to find a solution to using other methods for attaching things to inner-tubes instead of glue.  I have been unable to find inner-tube glue in my area.  This instructable is how I turned an inner-tube into something I think is very useful and pretty.

Step 1: Supplies

Inner-tube
Ribbon scrap
2 Buttons
Shiny gem stone
Craft Glue
Paint
Scissors
Pinking scissors
Key chain ring
Hole punch
Ruler
Marker

Step 2: Cutting

Paint the inner tube using a high quality paint or leave it unpainted.
Mine measures 2X6
After it is dry mark it the desired size.
Cut it out using the pinking scissors.

Step 3: Hole

Mark center on the book mark and using the hole punch cut it out.

Step 4: Ribbon

Cut a small piece of ribbon about 8 inches long.
Slip the ribbon through the book marker hole.
Layer the buttons and ribbon as shown and glue. ( the ribbon is folded in half)
Press and weight it down until it dries.

Step 5: Gem

Glue the gem in the center of the button.

Step 6: Key Ring Book Mark

I do not know how to tell you to attach the inner-tube to the key ring but maybe you can see how it is done by looking at the pictures.
I just cut out the book mark from the inner tube and made a slit across it and glued the sticker.  My husband attached it to the key-ring.  It made a very nice book mark.

Step 7: Sunshiine's Final Thoughts

These turned out very nicely!  I am sure they will be appreciated by all the people who will be getting them.
Thanks for stopping by and do have a great day!
