Boot and Run Ubuntu from a Flash Drive

Step 6Conclusion

Conclusion
Now you're done! Just reboot the computer, set it to boot from the flash drive in the BIOS, and let it load!

If your can't get Ubuntu to boot, your flash drive may have a corrupted MBR. To repair the MBR of your USB device, at the terminal in Ubuntu type "sudo apt-get install lilo " followed by "lilo -M /dev/sdb".

You can now run Ubuntu anywhere and still have all your settings and files.

Wow, how did you learn how to do all that? The user interface is not very intuitive to say the least. Did you have to take phd or something? I got only as far as dowloading it. I downloaded it and extracted it to a cd. But then the extracted folders had further compressed folders within them. So it won't boot from the cd. I'll have to start all over again. Maybe I should try to extract everything first then tranfer everything over to a disk?

There is a much easier way that requires no Phd.
