Braided Skeleton Knife Handle

Let's use a training Karambit knife.
It is made of 5 mm thick PVC.
This braid can be done in any type of knife flat handle.
No need for drilling or special shape to hold the cords

Step 1 Materials Needed

Paracord 550
Adhesive tape
Curve Hemostat (can be a needle-nose pliers or a strong clamp)
Round tip spatula (or any tool that can drive the string without spoiling the paracord)
Lighter
Knife or other tool that will receive the braided

For sharp knives, I recommend protecting the edge with tape to avoid the accidental injury.

The key question is : how do you know or measure out the length of cord to use? Every knife is different in handle length! I don't want to come up short with the cord. Can you give me a way to measure the handle then measure the cord out so it will be long enough to finish the wrap with some left over for a decorative end lanyard ? There must be a secret answer to this!!! You did not tell us how you measured the cord out! Thanks.

It is very difficult. But every time than I do something, I do the same job many times. To try the perfection. I use a cord little longer than I need and when I finish the first time I put a little piece of tape on every cord. When I untie, I can measure.

I did this a while ago and kept forgetting to thank you for it! The first couple steps took a while to stick but after that I got it goin! It was the perfect compliment to the already rugged look of my knife and I still get comments about it.

Where did you get your PVC? Nice wrap, by the way. I'm always looking for knife handle wraps that don't require holes to be drilled.

would the edge be on the inside of the blade or outside? and would it be safe to say this is a very lethal tool even if just a practice one?

Karambit is an excellent knife. Suitable for close combat. Virtually impossible to be disarmed. The targets are the large blood vessels and joints.

Good to see someone else knows about martial arts training and using safe practice weapons. The real ones hurt too much. Nice job on that handle, I may put this on my wood karambit knife.

Well, I have the CNC router, but you don't need one. You can draw the shape on some plastic material (I did with 5 mm PVC) and cut with a jeweler's saw.
