Let's use a training Karambit knife.
It is made of 5 mm thick PVC.
This braid can be done in any type of knife flat handle.
No need for drilling or special shape to hold the cords

Step 1: Materials Needed

Paracord 550
Adhesive tape
Curve Hemostat (can be a needle-nose pliers or a strong clamp)
Round tip spatula (or any tool that can drive the string without spoiling the paracord)
Knife or other tool that will receive the braided

For sharp knives, I recommend protecting the edge with tape to avoid the accidental injury.
What is the name of this braid type?
Good looking handle!..I've been looking for a step by step on how to du this for a few days.. excellent post....
Could you drill 4 holes in the knife instead of using tape? I have knife I'd like to do this on but it would slip off otherwise.
I did this a while ago and kept forgetting to thank you for it! The first couple steps took a while to stick but after that I got it goin! It was the perfect compliment to the already rugged look of my knife and I still get comments about it.
cool, kinda looks like the swords used in achient eygyption times. (yes i know which word i spelled wrong, dont care.)
Very Nice!
did they use this type of knife in the chronicles of riddick?
The key question is : how do you know or measure out the length of cord to use? Every knife is different in handle length! I don't want to come up short with the cord. Can you give me a way to measure the handle then measure the cord out so it will be long enough to finish the wrap with some left over for a decorative end lanyard ? There must be a secret answer to this!!! You did not tell us how you measured the cord out! Thanks.
It is very difficult. But every time than I do something, I do the same job many times. To try the perfection. I use a cord little longer than I need and when I finish the first time I put a little piece of tape on every cord. When I untie, I can measure.
Did you check out my instructables? I have a couple using the Karambit type blades! Thanks again for sharing!
Is it possible to do this wrap on a round handle like a flash light? Or does it have to be flat?
Where did you get your PVC? Nice wrap, by the way. I'm always looking for knife handle wraps that don't require holes to be drilled.
I bought at the plastic shop. But I am in Brasil. I don't know where do you can buy. Sorry.
Oh, no problem. I might be able to find it in the US.
Here's a picture of a homemade kerambit that I wrapped using your instructable. The knife isn't quite done but I think it turned out pretty well.
beautiful. great knife
Thanks. It took me many poorer knives before I was able to make that one.
Very Nice.
would the edge be on the inside of the blade or outside? and would it be safe to say this is a very lethal tool even if just a practice one?
Great Job, Thank you
Uhmm... on the last picture of you wiht the knife facing down, your wrist looks like it has a cut or some type of burn. Anyway, it looked painful.
I burned 80% of my body in a gas explosion. But I am so well that I rarely remember it.
Oh man im so sorry! Didnt know thats what happened, and i didnt mean to bring that up...
Don't worry. I don't have any problem about this.
I forgot where do you "insert" the knife for the proper "results"?
Can you make the question again? I don't understand your doubt.
Re-read the question but put this after the question ------> (in combat)
Karambit is an excellent knife. Suitable for close combat. Virtually impossible to be disarmed. The targets are the large blood vessels and joints.
<br>Good to see someone else knows about martial arts training and using safe practice weapons. The real ones hurt too much. Nice job on that handle, I may put this on my wood karambit knife.
Is a pleasure to help you.<br>If you like karambit, look this:<br><br>http://avaxhome.ws/ebooks/eLearning/Ray_Dionaldo_Principles_of_the_kerambit.html<br><br>
Will this work on a homemade karambit knife made of 1/4&quot; stainless steel ? I like your knife shape, may I use it to make one of Stainless Steel ?
Of course, if you need any info ask me.
can you give me some info about how to make one of these knives
Well, I have the CNC router, but you don't need one. You can draw the shape on some plastic material (I did with 5 mm PVC) and cut with a jeweler's saw.
where did you get the knife from
I did it with a CNC router.
