Before installing the new pads:

  • stick backing pads (if supplied) to the back of the new pads with self-stick adhesive
  • grease the area of the back of the pad which will contact the caliper or piston
  • IMPORTANT: grease the edges of the pads where they will contact the pad shims (see previous step)

ALSO IMPORTANT: This should be obvious, but DO NOT get grease on the pad surfaces!!!

Do not Grease the backing plates. You simply want to get a bottle of Anti-Squeak and apply it evenly ONLY on the backing plate of the pad, let it sit for several minutes and then install pads.

On vehicles that don't have the already sticky backing, by some of the "anti squeek" sticky spray to put on the backs. I used hightemp grease for years on the backs and they always ended up squeeking. USE STICKY SPRAY.
