You're all done!

The only thing left to do is take the bike out with some friends and get them to verify that it shines in the light. Also, if you have any vinyl left over, you can add it to whatever you want: helmet, bag, shoes - anything.

Your mileage may vary depending on how often and rigorously you ride your bike. Most engineer grade vinyl is "rated" for 7 years, but probably isn't intended as a bicycle covering. If anyone develops any tips for upping the life-expectancy of the bicycle-vinyl, post a comment, or get in touch with us.

We've got a Bright Bike site at:

Well done! I started thinking about going further than the white tape strips on my rims (to comply with the law) ever since I saw a Le Toy 3's graphics. A few tips however; if you use a slippery medium and a squeegee when applying the vinyl--either soapy water or a window tint application spray--you'll greatly reduce the air bubbles and creases when getting the vinyl on. This is how pros do it and it makes it a lot easier. Second, you may want to contact someone with a vinyl cutter to do rim strips. Unfortunately there is some waste in doing this but it can be reduced based on the number of pieces used to make a circle (doesn't really work if you have rim brakes). This has been done with motorcycles for some time. Although, I do feel your application is better since the wheels will appear to "flash," which is much better visibility. Just think longer, but fewer (max of 3) strips.
