Introduction: Broadhead Blowgun Dart for Hunting

About: Follow me on Youtube

This Instructable will show you how to make a broadhead blowgun darts.
It is a easy and cheap alternative to buying darts for your blowgun.
The Darts have razor sharp edges which can easily slice through flesh an bones.

Step 1: You Will Need

For this project you will need:
Tools:
A Hammer
Strong wire clippers
A file
A fine file or sand paper
A strong surface
scissors

Materials:
Wire clothes hanger
Tape
Electrical tape
Clear plastic folder

You will also need your blowpipe.

Step 2: Cutt Your Clothes Hanger

In this step you will have to cut your clothes hanger to the size you want the dart to be.
Longer darts are more stable but are not as fast .
Shorter darts fly further and have more penetration so I would recommend making them shorter.
That would mean cutting it to 3 pieces.
You only need the long straight part for the darts.
Be careful when cutting the clothes hangers they can fly in different directions when they're cut.
Use your strong wire cutters to do this.

Step 3: Flattening

In this step you will have to flatten the front with a hammer until its about half a centimeter wide.
Once in a wile flip it round so it doesn't start curving to one side.
It doesn't matter if it goes wider than half a centimeter.

Step 4: Making the Tip

Now you will have to file upwards towards the middle until you have a tip.
Do the same thing downwards to make a bit like an arrowhead.
Use your rough file to do this.

Step 5: Sharpening

Now take out your small file or sand paper  to create a small blade on the edges of the tip.
This will help you slice through flesh and bone when hunting.
You can also skip this step if you are not using the dart for hunting.

Step 6: The Cone

To get the dart to work for the blowgun you have to make the cone at the back for it to shoot out.
You can do this by cutting a small square out of the clear plastic folder about 7cm long and wide.
Next you will have to make a cone around your finger with the square and put a small piece of tape so the cone stays in shape.
Make sure there is no or a very small hole at the tip of the cone.
After that get your dart that you previously made and push it through the tip of the cone from the back.
Secure the cone from sliding off  with a small piece of tape.
Leave about half a centimeter of the metal dart sticking out inside the cone
Without applying any pressure loosely wrap electrical tape around the cone start about 1 and a half centimeters before the cone.
After covering the cone fully with electrical tape slide your dart into your blowgun cut the extra cone off.
You may need to trim the cone off a bit but at the end the dart should fit into the blowgun and should stay in place without sliding up and down.

Step 7: Finished Product

At the end you should get a very heavy duty blowgun dart.
With a decent blowgun you could easily kill small game from about 15 m when you attach a reel to the blowgun and modify the darts a bit you could easily go fishing with it.
Let me know which one of the other things in the images you want me to make for instructables.
