let's make a Bucket Marble Run.
It is my first instructable, created completely on the kitchen table

It is my first Instructable - wish me luck!

Step 1: MATERIALS:

5 gallon bucket with lid
Cable ties (you could use fasteners i.e., twist ties, paper clips)
Clear tubing with interior dimension big enough to allow marble to pass
Assorted plastic bottles, jars, food containers (Raid the recycle bin)

Step 2: TOOLS:

Dremel tool
Kitchen scissors
Trigger clamps
Needle Nose Pliers

Step 3: PREPARE BUCKET

Remove the handle by snipping the plastic on both sides of the holder. Pull handle free.

Step 4: FIRST DROP:

Measure tubing around top of bucket, cut to size. Use clamps (and extra hands as needed) to fit and test that marble moves freely through the tubing. Start the tubing just below the lid then decline slightly as you wrap around bucket. Test again before securing tubing to the bucket.

Step 5: ATTACH WITH CABLE TIES

Use your Dremel tool to drill two holes vertically about one inch apart. Thread cable through the front of the hole around the tubing and back through though the second hole loosely tighten. Continue attaching the tubing every 5-6 inches around the bucket. Test again, adjust as necessary, then tighten all cable ties.

Step 6: FUNNEL DROP

Return to the collection of plastics. Select the piece you feel will work best for collecting and guiding the marbles to your next stages. Your ultimate goal is to have a three tier path to the collection bucket on the ground. I chose a shampoo bottle for it's larger diameter. I cut it in half and trimmed to size. Next I carved an opening in the lid just large enough to allow the marble to pass, like a funnel.

Step 7: POSITION AND ATTACH FUNNEL DROP

Drop a few more marbles in order to locate and mark the position for your first funnel. Use your Dremel to drill two small holes into the bucket and through the plastic "funnel" drop. Thread cable tie from inside of the bucket through both holes in the plastic piece and back through the bucket. I used the small pliers to pull the tie through the clasp and tighten it. Test marble run and adjust as needed.

Step 8: LADDER DROP

Look through your collection of plastics. Select another item for the next funnel (or ramp). I chose a bubble bath bottle with ridged edges to create a ladder like run. I cut it into quarters and used a smaller cable tie to connect two of the four pieces together to form a ladder and a return.

Drop a a few marbles to watch the new trajectory. Locate and mark the position for the run and return plastic. Use Dremel to drill holes through plastic and bucket. Thread cable tie....

Test marble run and adjust as needed.
