Through this instructable we will be creating a fun and unique twist to the iPhone stand. The great thing is once you have created one of these you'll have the knowledge to change it up and make multiples with different designs!

Things you will need:

Basic Coreldraw knowledge.
Basic operation knowledge for the Epilog laser
Acrylic plastic in whatever color you want
A plastic strip heater
Fabric or leather gloves
A band saw or scroll saw
A file
Acrylic cement
Applicator for the acrylic cement

Step 1: Create Your Parts!

To get started, browse revolver images until you find one you like. Do the same for the revolver cylinder for the front of the stand. Once you find the images you like import and edit in Coreldraw. After you have played with the various tools to achieve a suitable file for the laser, scale your parts to size. After your revolver is scaled appropriately duplicate it. You need two to make this work. You will also need to create a rectangle about the same size of your iPhone. I used a digital caliper to find my measurments. We will need to bend the bottom of the rectangle in order to make the lip needed to hold your iPhone in place so add more length to your rectangle to compinsate for this bend. Once all your software work is done, save your file to a thumb drive and head over to the laser to cut your parts out!

Step 2: After Your Parts Are Cut Out, It's Time to Bend!

Okay so your parts are all cut out! Yeay! Now we will need to bend the rectangle at one end to create the lip to hold the base of your iPhone. Peal off the paper from both sides of your acrylic. Turn on the strip heater and adjust to "6" or "full" heat. It will take a few minutes for the heater to reach the desired temperature. Score some marks or a line were your iPhone ends when you place the top of the phone to the top of your rectangle. Remember there should be enough acrylic left over to compensate for the bend and still cover the bottom of the phone. Place the rectangle on the strip heater with the score marks on the heating strip. Use the lines on the strip heater to insure your rectangle is lined up straight.

After a few minutes check if your rectangle is ready to bend by either applying pressure with your finger nail or something hard. The plastic should respond to light pressure when it's ready. Once your plastic is ready put on some gloves. I made the mistake of not using gloves when I made mine.... you want gloves.... Find something with a ninety degree angle to bend your plastic on. It has to be able to withstand the heat from the plastic of course. I bent mine on a block of metal. Hold your rectangle until it has cooled and hardened. Remove and there is your bend!

Step 3: Select Your Angle and Cut!

Now that your bend is created place your iPhone on it. Tilt back and forth until you find the angle you want your stand to rest at. Measure that angle and then grab your revolvers. Draw that angle on the corner of your revolver handle. Now you'll have to cut the excess off from the handle so that when you attach it to the back of your rectangle your stand will rest at that angle. So bring your revolvers to a band saw or scroll saw and cut!

After you have cut your angle from the revolver handle you may need to do a little file work to perfect the cut surface. You want to do this to ensure a flush mount to the back of your rectangle. After you are finished filing, place your revolvers on the back of your rectangle and put down some score marks of where you want them to be attached. Prepare to attach!

Step 4: Attach!

Alrighty! Time to attach your parts together. I used acrylic cement to attach my parts. You could try acetone or super glue if you desire. I put a small amount of acrylic cement into a plastic bottle with a screw on needle tip. This way I could easily control the amount of cement applied. You only need a drop of this stuff. Be careful! If you get this stuff on any other pastic it will eat away at it. I speak from experience...

Remove the paper from both sides of your revolvers and cylinder. Place a drop of cement on the angled cut of your revolver handle and place on your score marks on the back of your rectangle you made earlier. This stuff works quick so be patient and place correctly the first time. Hold it there for a minute to ensure proper attachment. Repeat with other revolver.

Once your revolvers are set up you can flip your stand over. However you are not done. The last finishing touch needs to be added. Grab your revolver cylinder and apply your cement. Place however you want on the bent lip of your stand to had that extra flare! Now step back and marvel at your work!!!

Step 5: The End Result!!

Hooray!!!! You have done it! Now you have a awesome stand and the knowledge needed to make many more! Like I mentioned ealier, you can choose many different designs to create the same type of stand.
