How cold does it get where you live? I'm in northern Illinois and want to build something similar to this for on my balcony this winter. My concern is that it won't be warm enough without having a heat source inside of it hot enough to melt the plastic if it touched the side. I was thinking about using a combination of a milk jug filled with water painted black and heat trace cord to provide heat on cold nights.

Hi Trassin. I am in Central California - high desert where it rarely gets down to the freezing level. But, I do have an idea for snow country greenhouses that will heat with either solar or wind power. Please keep in touch! I will have the plans up in the near future. ;-) GAiL
