Introduction: Building a Built in Pool

Hello everyone in this instructable I will show you how to make an in ground pool with a wooden frame construction. A little back story about this pool. My father is a nut, we have lived at this address for 15 years, and this will be the 6th pool that we have put in. The third of which is in ground, and the second wood frame pool. Just as a side note there has never been anything wrong with any of these pools, it just gave us something to do during the summer I guess. Any ways the next few steps I will show you how to build a pool. Hope you enjoy.

Step 1: Digging and Leveling the Pool Area

The first thing that we have done here was we had a hole dug out to our desired spects, our last pool was huge , so we decided to make this one a bit smaller we down sized to a 16 by 20 foot pool.( WARNING please call before you dig, that is the last thing anyone needs is to hit a powerline or water main, or worse your septic system. Building a pool is not cheap and damaging equipment like gas lines can cost you everything. ) So we dug the pool out and used a laser level to level of the bottom of the pool with a hard rake.

Step 2: Digging the Post

The next step is to dig holes for the 6 by 6 post we used to hold up our walls. We dug them out with a post hole digger we rented from home depot. We dug the holes to 24 inches deep and filled them with concrete. Then we braced all of the post with fern strips to make sure they didnt topple over.

Step 3: Building the Walls

in this step we started to build the walls with 2by6 boards. we laid three 2by6s 11 1/2 apart. this gave our walls some support. we then put in some blocking for added support. we also added some suppot on the back side with some 2by4 straps with a rebar pin.

Step 4: Plywood

we then put up 3/4 ply wood for the inner pool walls then we put 2by4 bracing inside the pool for added support when we start the back filling process.

Step 5:
