I'll be part of a crew for next years BM 2011 and we are designing and building a great project. the home page for the project is here: http://www.mutantvehicle.com/georgie_boy.htm

I will be building a robotic Georgie Boy and his companion Smoochie Pooch. Once Smoochie Pooch is at a point for posting an instructable I'll make sure to post it as soon as I can. You can also keep track what we are doing on the progress page and if any one wants to donate for this project please do so.

Burning Man festival is an event which has grown from being a beach party celebrating the summer solstice to the incarnation of personal freedom, radical self expression. If you’re looking for a totally unique experience, The Burning Man Festival will provide you with one, but only if you participate.

The event starts on the Monday before and ends on the day of the American Labor Day holiday. It takes its name from the ritual burning of a large wooden effigy on Saturday evening.Burning Man festival is an event which has grown from being a beach party celebrating the summer solstice to the incarnation of personal freedom, radical self expression. I went to Burning Man for 11 years straight, but have not been for the last 4 years. There truly is nothing else like it on the planet. It is an art/techno/geek festival of the highest order. Be prepared to see amazing art, sculpture, architecture and a cast of thousands just enjoying themselves.

BM has changed over the years, as it used to be all about chaos but now due to the amount of participants it needs to be more about community. No more guns, bombs, etc. which is understandable. My first year we had a great time at the Drive-By Shooting Range though......

Get on the mailing list and buy your tickets on the very first day they are available in early January. the price goes up steadiily from that point on. Spend the next 8 months looking at instructables for bicycles, shelter, shade, hydration, l.e.d lighting, solar technologies, and ways to keep multiple cases of beer cool for 4 days.

This was my 3rd year at BM. Fab place for gadgeteers. My fav was a 68 foot Chris Craft wooden cabin cruiser mounted on the chassis of former concrete transit mix truck. The steering was accomplished by using the throttle levers on the console which controlled a gigantic hydraulic valve connected to the front wheels. Three closed circuit TV cameras connected to a split screen TV screen were the means to steer the Mutant Vehicle as the vision down below was obscured at the helm. Nice ! Ticket prices are tiered. In 2010 the first tickets sold for $ 210. As time went by the price rose all the way to $ 360 at the gate. Go as soon as you can ! It may change you as a person. It has me, There were in excess of 50,000 " burners " this year. The only things for sale are ice and coffee. Many things and services are gifted. Burning Man curious ? Google it !

The tickets were $240 when they went on sale back in Jan 09. I went this year and it was a blast. Definitely going back in 2010.
