November 26th The day after thanksgiving is seen as "Black Friday" where people are expected to shop till they drop. In recent years a movement has started to push for a buy nothing day on that friday, where instead of buying, people express themselves in ways that go against consumer culture.

My favorite example of drop lifting involved someone buying 300 "Teen Talk" Barbies and "Talking Duke" G. I. Joes. The electronics in them were interchangeable so after a little switchcaroo/toy brain surgery..... GI Joes with Barbie voices and the inverse were found neatly back in their boxes on store shelves.
