Buzz Saw Gun in Rifle Format

Introduction: Buzz Saw Gun in Rifle Format

About: I do K'nex...a lot. It's fun to mess around with new mechanisms, and to learn about basic engineering. I build mostly guns, and love to build new concepts. I will start posting some of my 'unposted ideas' in...

Well, after a long wait, here it is. This is JonnyBGood's Buzz Saw Gun that he wanted me to turn into a rifle. It features the somewhat same saw/blade, but other wise, I really modded this thing up. I hope you like it, and here are some Pro's and Con's.

Looks Pretty Cool

Really Neat Concept

Not a very good range - 15-20 ft.

Only four shots per 'magazine'

The shot curves down a bit from the way I redesigned the blade part

JonnyBGood, I hope you like it!

Sweet! I like how you modified the blade to fit how you wanted too. I also am assuming you made this modification to assure the blade stops where it suppose to. I also can't help but think of the people who complain that I don't put a stock on my guns.... well there you go, they can't complain anymore because that is how I would want it done! The contrast of this compared to my original design is, well sharp. You took my smooth design and gave it some sharp lines, which are very cool! Overall just a lot of stuff going on with this gun! Thanks for giving the concept a try!

Thanks! I'm glad you like it! Yeah it took me a while to get the blade to stop where it needed to be, and that ended up being the last problem I had with this gun. I am going to get my Shotgun instructions up this weekend, so you can have fun with that one. I don't know how you do it though. I mean, a lot of my guns are simple concepts made a little more complex and useful, but I don't know how anyone could make a top loading, shell ejecting, pump action shotgun. It's crazy.

Also, kinda random, but are there any W.A.S.P directions on instructables? (I am making a belt action gun and was thinking of joining the two gunsto make a semi auto, belt fed rifle.)

No problem! As too how I will work on my mod to your gun is just like any other gun. I don't think anything is impossible (mechanically) unless tried, and even then I build off that experience to try something different the next time.
"As a concept builder you must aim high and if you miss the mark, aim lower" JonnyBGood (yes I did just make that quote on the fly)
What I'm talking about is normally I'll aim at something impossibly complex and simplify it until it works. So I start with three concepts on one gun and remove the problematic ones until the gun works.

As for the WASP instructions, that's exclusive to Knex Innovation and unfortunately oodalump's is a bit sensitive on posting it here. Fortunately for you though, you asked the right guy.
If those pictures can't build you a wasp try The Red Book of Westmarch's forum topic "what's wrong with my wasp". If you're still having problems I would ask oodalumps.
I'm interested in seeing a full auto mod to the wasp so I'll deffinitly keep an eye out for it.
(sorry for the long and slow response, I work as much as I type)

Yeah I guess I kinda do the same thing when building a new gun. I guess you never really realize how easy it comes to you once you try it.

And thanks for the url for the WASP. I have the belt action rifle done, and I'm going to post that (and instructions) before I post my modded WASP version. I think it's going to work out well...thanks again!

Anytime, there's perks for being a frequent flyer on the website. I just figured out a brand new sensitive and powerful trigger for hammer powered knex guns. I will be posting my inspiration tomorrow if all goes well.

Nice....I'll be sure to check it out!
