'DRILL PRESS' WHICH IS CONSIDERED TO BE ONE OF THE MOST ESSENTIAL TOOL IN WORKSHOP CAN BE EASILY BUILT WITH SIMPLE AND EASILY AVAILABLE PARTS AT HOME OR MARKET.

I MADE THIS DRILL PRESS MAINLY FROM CAR JACK AND AQUA GUARD(WATER PURIFIER) PARTS.

WORKING:-THIS DRILL PRESS IS FITTED WITH ELECTRONIC MOTORIZED CAR JACK WHICH PROVIDES UP AND DOWN MOVEMENT OF DRILL MACHINE.THERE IS REMOTE CONNECTED TO CAR JACK WHICH HAS UP AND DOWN FUNCTION.SO WITH THE HELP OF THIS FUNCTION YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PRESS DRILL MACHINE DOWNWARDS AND AGAIN PULL DRILL MACHINE UPWARDS.

SO MY FRIENDS IN THIS INSTRUCTABLE I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE MY ONE OF THE BEST CREATION I EVER DID,SO PLEASE KINDLY HAVE A LOOK TO ALL SLIDES.

WARNING:-ALL THE HEAVY EQUIPMENTS ABOVE MUST BE USED CAUTIOUSLY AND UNDER ADULTS SUPERVISION.MAKE SURE YOU USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND OUTFITS.

Step 1: PART 1-ITEMS REQUIRED

1) WOODEN PLY (SIZE=L x B x w=51cm x 22cm x 2cm, QUANTITY=1)

2) METAL BEAM (SIZE= LENGTH=30 CM, QUANTITY=2)

3) METAL COLUMN (SIZE=L x B=27cm x 5.5cm,QUANTITY=4)

4)TOOLS

5) WOODEN BEAM (SIZE=L x B X W=38cm x 4.5cm x 2cm,QUANTITY=1)

6) DIFFERENT TYPES OF SCREWS AND NUT,WASHERS ,SPRING WASHERS AS SHOWN IN THE ABOVE IMAGES.

Step 2: FIXING OF TWO COLUMNS TOGETHER

IN THIS METAL COLUMN THERE IS A FLAT SURFACE WHICH ALREADY HAS THREE HOLES ON IT.PLACE ONE FLAT SURFACE OF METAL COLUMN ON FLAT SURFACE OF ANOTHER METAL COLUMN AND FIX THE TWO METAL COLUMN TOGETHER BY SCREWS AND NUTS AS SHOWN IN THE ABOVE IMAGES.PASS THE SCREWS THROUGH ONE HOLE AND ANOTHER SCREW THROUGH OTHER END HOLE AS SHOWN IN THE IMAGES ABOVE.

THIS IS EXACTLY HOW IT LOOKS AFTER FIXING THE TWO COLUMNS AS SHOWN IN THE ABOVE IMAGE.

Step 3: FIXING THE FIXED COLUMN ON THE WOODEN PLY

NOW AFTER FIXING THE TWO COLUMNS,TAKE THE ONE END OF THE TWO COLUMN AND PLACE IT OVER THE BLUE METAL BEAM.

THE ONE END OF FIXED COLUMN HAS SIX THREADING CORNERS.AFTER PLACING IT OVER THE BLUE METAL BEAM,DRILL HOLES ON THE BLUE METAL BEAM ACCORDING TO THAT SIX THREADING.AFTER DRILLING HOLES ON BLUE METAL BEAM,THIS IS HOW IT WOULD LOOK WHICH IS ENCIRCLED WITH MARKER AS SHOWN IN THE IMAGES ABOVE.

NOW AGAIN DRILL HOLES ON THE WOODEN PLY BY FOLLOWING THE ABOVE PROCEDURE.HOLES DRILLED ON WOODEN PLY IS ENCIRCLED WITH MARKER AS SHOWN IN THE IMAGE ABOVE.

NOW MATCH THE HOLES OF THE WOODEN PLY,METAL BEAM AND FIXED COLUMN PERFECTLY AND THEN PASS SCREW THROUGH THE HOLES AND TIGHT IT WITH SCREW DRIVER.FIX THE REMAINING HOLES WITH SCREW AND SCREW DRIVER AND HOW WILL IT LOOK IS SHOWN IN THE IMAGE ABOVE.

NOW THE TWO COLUMN IS FIXED ON THE WOODEN PLY.

Step 4: RAISING THE HEIGHT OF THE FIRST COLUMN

TIGHT THE STUD SCREW IN THE THREAD CORNER OF METAL COLUMN.NOW TAKE THAT METAL COLUMN AND INSERT IT IN THE CENTER THREAD CORNER OF ONE OF THE FIXED METAL COLUMN AND GO ON ROTATING THE COLUMN UNTIL IT BECOMES TIGHT AND AFTER TIGHTENING IT,HOW IT LOOKS IS SHOWN IN THE IMAGES ABOVE.

Step 5: RAISING THE HEIGHT OF SECOND COLUMN

NOW TAKE THE ANOTHER STUD AND FIX IT IN THE THREAD CORNER OF THE FIXED COLUMN.TAKE THE ANOTHER METAL COLUMN AND PLACE THE THREAD CORNER OF THAT METAL COLUMN ON THAT STUD AND GO ON ROTATING THE COLUMN UNTIL IT BECOMES TIGHT.

THIS IS HOW IT WILL LOOK AFTER FIXING THE TWO COLUMNS ABOVE THE TWO FIXED COLUMNS AS SHOWN IN THE IMAGES ABOVE.

Step 6: FIXING THE TWO COLUMNS TOGETHER

JUST TO ADD MORE RIGIDNESS TO THE STRUCTURE,I FIXED THE TWO COLUMN WITH SCREWS AND NUT AT THE TOP OF THE METAL COLUMN.

Step 7: MOUNTING METAL BEAM ON COLUMN

TAKE THE BLUE METAL BEAM AND WOODEN BEAM AND AGAIN DRILL SIX HOLES ON BLUE METAL BEAM ACCORDING TO SIX THREAD CORNERS AS DONE IN PREVIOUS STEP(STEP 3).

NOW DRILL TWO HOLES ON WOODEN BEAM BY TAKING MEASUREMENT AS PER THE METAL BEAM.

AFTER DRILLING HOLES ON METAL BEAM AND WOODEN BEAM,PLACE THEM ON THE COLUMN AND FIX THEM BY SCREW AND NUT.

AFTER THAT I ADDED ONE EXTRA SCREW ON SIDE JUST TO MAKE SURE THAT UPPER PART IS TIGHTLY FIXED.

HERE WE WON'T INSERT ALL THE SIX SCREWS,BECAUSE THREE SCREWS AND NUTS ARE SUFFICIENT TO HOLD THE ENTIRE UPPER STRUCTURE.

Step 8: COMPLETION OF STAND AND SUPPORT

THE SUPPORT AND STAND FOR DRILL PRESS IS COMPLETED.

Step 9: PART 2-ITEMS REQUIRED

THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE:-

1) ELECTRONIC MOTORIZED CAR JACK (12V DC, QUANTITY=1).

2) ANY DRILL MACHINE (QUANTITY=1).

3) 12V DC POWER SUPPLY (MIMIMUM 1.5 AMPERAGE )

4) SCREWS AND NUTS,WASHERS AND SPRING WASHERS).

5) SMALL WOOD PIECES (QUANTITY=2).

Step 10: MOUNTING JACK ON METAL BEAM

THIS ELECTRONIC MOTORIZED JACK HAS A STRONG BASE WHICH HAS TWO GAPS ON THEM.DRILL TWO HOLES ON THAT BLUE METAL BEAM AT THE END.PASS THE SCREWS THROUGH THE DRILLED HOLES AND FIT THE JACK AND TIGHT THE SCREWS.

Step 11: COMPLETION OF MOUNTING THE JACK

THIS IS HOW IT LOOKS AFTER MOUNTING THE MOTORIZED JACK ON THAT BLUE METAL BEAM.

Step 12: FIXING OF DRILL MACHINE ON JACK

THE DRILL MACHINE HAS AN OPENING COVER AT THE TOP WHICH IS FITTED WITH SCREW.THIS COVER CAN BE REMOVED.TAKE 2 SMALL WOODEN BLOCKS OF SIZE (APPROX L x B x W=5cm x 2cm x 3cm) AND DRILL TWO HOLES ON BOTH THE WOODEN BLOCKS ACCORDING TO THE HOLES ON TOP OF THE DRILL MACHINE.AFTER THAT TAKE TWO LONG SCREW,PASS IT THROUGH TWO WOODEN BLOCKS AND FIX IT ON THE TOP OF THE DRILL MACHINE.

PUSH THAT DRILL MACHINE IN THAT JACK CLAMP AND AGAIN PASS LONG SCREWS THROUGH THE HOLES DRILLED IN THAT CLAMP AS SHOWN IN THE IMAGES ABOVE.

Step 13: COMPLETION OF FIXING DRILL MACHINE ON JACK

THIS IS HOW THE DRILL MACHINE WILL LOOK AFTER FIXING IT ON THE JACK .

Step 14: AND ITS DONE

THE ENTIRE DRILL PRESS HAS BEEN MADE FROM SCRAP PARTS.

i.e from=AQUA GUARD PARTS (WATER PURIFIER) => ELECTRONIC MOTORIZED CAR JACK => DRILL MACHINE.

BUT THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT MOTORIZED CAR JACK REQUIRE HIGH AMPERAGE POWER SUPPLY WHICH THEY ACQUIRE IT FROM CAR BATTERY.UNFORTUNATELY I DIDN'T HAD CAR BATTERY OR HIGH AMPERAGE POWER SUPPLY EITHER.SO WHILE OPERATING THIS DRILL PRESS THE ACTION OF CAR JACK IS LITTLE SLOW BUT MANAGEABLE.THIS ERROR CAN BE ELIMINATED IF WE USE CAR BATTERY OR HIGH AMPERAGE POWER SUPPLY FOR CAR JACK.

IN THIS WAY,I FIXED ALL THE SPARE AND SCRATCH PARTS TOGETHER AND MADE A CAR JACK DRILL PRESS.

NOW JUST START DRILLING HOLES WITHOUT ANY EFFORTS.

Sorry - I don't see this as a very practical drill press :-/
<p>This is a clever project idea. It'd be a fair sight easier to read if you'd turn off capslock and italics, though. Have you used this for any projects yet? I'd love to see them.</p>
