CQC Tutorial

CQC Tutorial
Well they teach this to you in the military and I always thought it was cooler than some other means of melee hand to hand combat. So if you want to see the basics of it, please read the rest of this Instructable. And I would appreciate some feedback of what you think. _

A lot of the public saw some of the CQC in the video game Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, where if you wanted to be a silent killer without guns or something. Well that is kind of what it really is.

Step 1Forewarnings and Information

Forewarnings and Information
Because this is a more physical thing not like building something cool like the rest the only material you will need is yourself.

If your an expert go ahead and correct me because I am always getting negative feedback from someone no matter what I do.

Anyway, CQC is a little more fair than other styles of martial arts in that you don't have top be as fit as some of the others but you have to be able to think quickly, and move. Quick reflexes are also nice to have. _

CQC is/was designed to combat all other forms of combat, even if you are in a hostage situation. Now, I was taught by my uncle and in high school my ROTC instuctor taught me even more.
Now I am going to try and show the people some of the basics.

But be warned don't try and think you are some kung fu king because you know the basics of this style. And I hope you won't ever end up in a situation where you will need this.
Also I am only showing the barebones of the style not everything.

And ALWAYS remember one of the very first rules of this: DON'T ABUSE YOUR KNOWLEDGE!!!

And for all of you that didn't know, CQC means Close Quarters Combat. _

This was... informative... I guess. There's no substitute for practice. Might I suggest enrolling in a grappling or joint manipulating art? Examples would be: JuJitsu, the unarmed combat of the Samurai (I believe), focuses on throwing, grappling, breaking joints, and striking in a mounted position, or Sambo, basically the Russian form of Judo, focusing on grappling and throwing in a more practical manner, Muy Tai the art from Thailand that focuses on striking in close to an enemy and delivering devasting blows with blinding speed, Aikido is also a good choice, but a little impractical, as it focuses on nonviolent wrist locks. Any time in these classes is worth a vast amount of time spent reading manuals or learning the history. I'm not trying to bash the guide, but it was a bit deceiving, I expected some good detailed diagrams of throws or joint locks. I'm no expert, but these techniques are a little too basic. Also, I agree with rplatter. His advice is pretty sound. Unless you are an advanced karate or tai kwan do fighter, kicks are a one way ticket to a trapped leg, and shortly thereafter, serious pain.

Human weapon? Man, those dirtbags got it wrong. Samurai invented jujitsu, Jigoro Kano invented Judo because Jujitsu was quite dangerous to practice back then. And Kano wasn't a samurai. He was a doctor.
Sep 5, 2007. 9:19 PMstevenvu2011 says:
Actually, judo was the sport form of JuJitsu set up by Dr. Kano. Ju Jitsu was the original unarmed combat style of the Samurai.

I don't know where you get your info from but it was slightly entertaining.Close Quarter Combat is meant to kill or maim your opponent. Anything else leave the combat part out of it. The U.S.M.C. has a basic rule. If it bends one way then bend it the other.

If you are unarmed and go up against a knife or lite weapon as you say like a 9mm and don't know exactly what you are doing then run. If you are proficient at an art such as Aikido , I am a 2nd Dan and former Marine then the matter is up to you. A simple disarm or just applying a few pounds of extra pressure while attacking the extended elbow could end the matter in permanent injury/death or just a humiliating tumble.

Here's a tip, combat, self defense and martial arts take years of practice and dedication. Don't carry a knife or weapon of any kind unless you want to lead the news because someone killed you with it. Play a game of Kim every night to be aware of your surrounds and then just live life staying away from possible trouble.

Oh, god, another "excessive Soviet." Lest, that's what I like to call people of the such... A large anti-tank weapon sich as an RPG or "bazooka," are pretty much illegal everywhere. If you decide blackmarket, thing upwards of 3000 dollars, USD. The average AK-47 usually goes for 1250 to 2000 dollars, USD. That's only for a legal AK, or a semi-automatic AK. Fully atomatic AK's are illegal, again, pretty much everywhere. So please, never post this again. Are you willing to spend >2000 USD on somone you would rather incapacitate momentarily? -PKT

Fine just get a taser for like 200$. While the person is paralyzed (grab his wallet and) run away.
Sep 11, 2009. 2:17 PMMolant says:
I agree with just about everything you said, expect the AK prices. It may be just location, but the local gun stores/shows typically have legal AK-47 clones for around $600-$1000. For higher quality or a "real" AK, the prices would certainly be much higher.

Sep 18, 2008. 6:19 PMTobita says:
i think it was based on martial art before being used as dance or used as a dance while as a sport/martial art, but what the hell do i know, i'm not of voting age, and till then, no one gives a crap about what we think....
Mar 30, 2009. 3:10 AMmilamber says:
Capoeira was made as both an combat art and a dance it was developed by przoners of a military prizon so as to look like dance when they practiced
Dec 18, 2009. 11:08 AMCaptDahmer says:
Sry, but you're wrong TOO, capoeira was made as both combat art and dance by SLAVES, they fought capoeira with knives in their feet, by using capoeira, LOTS of slaves could escape from their "work place", and hide in the Quilombos (say: Kilombos).
Dec 19, 2009. 3:47 PMKokkan says:
It was a martial art disguised as dance.

Look bro not trying to kill your buzz with wanting to learn ,BUT get with a instructor that knows about CQC your best bet is Commando krav maga not to be confused with krav maga . The tactic's are I admit cool but very out dated ,not to say they will not work ,but they need to be practiced ALOT and under pressure . CQC is ever evolving . I am a Instructor in CKM and we deal alot in CQC . The old arts just are not up to date in this area . If you want to learn how to work a blade and your old enough check out Kali ,THINK Jason bourne ,the movie ,the hunted all Kali . Finding us is the hard part alot of times . good luck and good hunting .

clearly you are learning form tapes or videos or a book. That is a start but only for theory and demonstration. "There is no substitute for finding yourself a Qualified Instructor in a bonified combat self defence art. I suggest Bujinkan Budo Ninpo Taijutsu over any others. Sport martial arts do not work and neither do video games. Dude, be careful what you learn in this area as ther is a lot of propiganda that will never work outside in the street Kool...my son rides goofy. peace.

i think CQC got replaced with MAC Modern army combatives for example in the picture you stole for step 1, guy 1 is attempting the arm trap and roll,(he has one hand on the elbow and another thumbless grip on the wrist) but the guy on top put his foot out to prevent being rolled onto his back.

Brazilian JJ would be completely useless for this application. It's 99 percent ground fighting. Unless your only up against one man. What do you think his buddies would be doing while your trying to set up for a triangle choke ? jUST STAND THERE AND WATCH:p?

Kid, in your second picture. Your knife hand is wrong. Your first and second fingers rap in between your gun hands second and third fingers, leaving the knife hands third and fourth fingers to hold your knife. End result, you can aim better.
