Introduction: Camera Bag With Genuine Leather Strap

About: I'm a guy that likes building things!

I am going to show you how to make a camera bag with a genuine leather strap. I bought all the materials at Hobby Lobby. This whole project took 2 days and some planning. The first day I did all the panels and top flap. The second day I did the snaps, strap, and United States Army pins. This is my first project I am putting on this web site, and I am entering the photography contest in the hopes of winning.

Step 1: Materials and Tools You Will Need

These are all the materials and tools you will need for the project.

Step 2: Cutting the Fabric

Cut the black canvas and the black flannel 7in by 7in squares. These are the front, bottom, right, and left panels. Use a ruler and rotary cutter.

Step 3: Cutting the Padding

Cut the padding 5in by 5in squares. Cut 8 of them ( I am going to double layer the walls and front flap ). Use a ruler, rotary cutter, and scissors.

Step 4: Making the Walls

Put 2 pieces of padding in between the one square of canvas and one square of flannel. Sew around the edges of the padding.

Step 5: Attaching the Walls

Fold the extra ends of the walls together and sew.

Step 6: Trimming to Make It Look Better Inside

Fold inside out and use scissors to trim the extra fabric.

Step 7: Cutting Out the Materials to Make Top Flap

Cut out 4 5in by 5in square padding, then cut out 2 3in by 2in rectangle padding. Cut a 14in by 7 in piece of the canvas and the flannel fabrics. Use a pen, white colored pencil, ruler, and a rotary cutter to cut.

Step 8: Sewing the Top Flap

Sew one side of the top flap then sew in between the padding. Then pin the other side and sew.

Step 9: Sewing on the Magnetic Snaps

Use a needle and black thread, then sew on the snaps. Go through the holes a couple times to make sure they stay in.

Step 10: Putting on One of the United States Army Pins

Use something that has a sharp tip, and can make a hole. Then use a flat head screw driver.

Step 11: All the Materials and Tools You Will Need to Attach the Leather Strap to the Bag

Step 12: Using Rivets to Attach the Strap to the Bag

First fold the leather at the ends and hot glue it. Then drill holes in the Leather and punch holes in the bag. Then hammer in the rivets.

Step 13: Putting on the United States Army Pin on the Leather Strap

Drill a hole in the leather, then screw in the pin.

Step 14: You Have Finished the Bag!

Congratulations you have finished making the bag! Now you have a convenient bag to put your camera in!
