Pancakes are an easy breakfast to make and are popular with most people. This makes them a perfect choice for cold camping mornings. "Just add Water" Pancakes in a "Shake to Mix" container is not my original Idea. Bisquick has an excellent, store ready version that works well. I wanted a cheaper, home-made version that works just as well.

Step 1: Gather and Prep

First you need to Gather your ingredients and prepare them for the camping trip.
you will need:
- "Just add water" pancake mix
- Water
- Sport Bottle
- Bottle of Water

You will need to place the measured amount of pancake mix in the plastic Sport Bottle, I usually have to use a paper funnel to get the mix in with out making a big mess. Place the correct measured amount of water in the bottle of water. If you want multiple days of pancakes you can draw lines on the water bottle for each serving. You will probably need to keep the multiple servings of pancake mix in seperate Sport bottles.

I see you fry 'em on the stove, do you have to haul a stove too, when you go camping?

Or you may use something like a Altoids stove.

build a fire and cook them in a fry pan or on a griddle over the fire. It works very well this is how we cook ours when we go camping

But the Altoids stove are a LOT less space-expensive

So the best thing to do is to have multiple sport bottles? I mean for shorting the times.

Very good and simple idea. I have a wide mouth water bottle that I am not using (takes ice cubes) and it will be perfect for this. A simple homemade pancake mix I use is 4 cups flour,1/4 cup BP,1Tbs sugar, 1 tsp salt, 3/4 cup dry milk powder and 3/4 cup canola oil. Mix thoroughly and store at room temperature - I keep it on hand for biscuits, pancakes, dumplings, etc....

This a great instructable. I go camping in a tent trailer and bring along my mother's (Oma) pancake recipe. Using your sport bottle idea will make carrying everything easier and more convenient. Thanks again!
