Step 1: Materials

you will need:

- A container
- Super glue
- Portable fan
- Battery pack
- Swiss army knife
- pliers
- soldering iron and solder

Step 2: Fan Disassemble

Picture of Fan Disassemble

open the fan and remove the motor, switch and battery assembly, and using a pair of pliers cut the wires from the motor that connect the battery and switch together.

Step 3: Mounting the Motor

Picture of Mounting the Motor

now, cut a small hole in the lid for the motors shaft to fit through and then super glue the motor down to the top of the lid. When this is dry, flip the lid over and using the fans propellor glue it to the shaft as seen in the picture.

Step 4: Air Flow Holes and Battery

Picture of Air Flow Holes and Battery

cut some small holes in the side of the container so the air can flow out of, also cut a couple of holes in the lid so the motor can suck in the warm air from the outside and cool it. Now glue the battery pack to the side of the container.

Step 5: Solder the Battery to the Motor

Picture of Solder the Battery to the Motor

now you must solder the battery to the motor making sure you have your positive and negative on the correct terminals or else the motor will spin in a different direction and it will not blow air in the correct direction.

Step 6: Finishing Up!!

Now you are done! add ice to the container and flick the switch.. the fan will suck hot air in and push it through the ice, cooling it, and then the air leaves through the holes in the container!! put this in your centre console and boom! you've got yourself a portable car refrigerator!

If you want bigger things kept cool, maybe some meat from the butcher, then put the cooler in a small Esky!

Nice Idea, but I would improve it with a PC-Fan and no free ice-cubes, rather some sealed freezer packs.
