Introduction: Cardboard Kitty Convertible

About: Kristin likes paper --- cutting it apart, folding it, gluing it back together, and all the fun things in between. If you want Kristin to create paper craft for you, contact her at ConstructiveKristin@gmail.com…

Create your own animal-appropriate sized cardboard car with these steps and soon your cat/dog/bunny/etc. will be able to back your car out of the driveway for you!

Materials/tools Needed:

-Cardboard boxes
-Adhesive (I used Gorilla Glue)
-Paint
-Pet
-Box Cutter
-Pencil
-Compass
-Ruler
-Scissors

Step 1: Cardboard

Flatten out any cardboard boxes and prep them for drawing your template.

Step 2: Draw Your Template

Draw your desired car template. My inspiration was a convertible. Make sure to add tabs where the pieces will adhere together. My car body includes:

-hood
-windshield
-trunk
-under side
-left side
-right side
-wheels
-axel

Step 3: Get to Cutting

Cut your template out and fold in the tabs.

Step 4: Double Check

Position the pieces to make sure the car will line up properly.

Step 5: Make It Stick

Adhere the tabs to necessary parts. Let the cardboard body dry.

Step 6: Taking Shape

At this point the car body should be taking shape.

Step 7: Paint Time

Now we get to painting. I had lots of leftover paint from other projects, so went ahead with colors already in my stock.

Step 8: Accessorize

Add wheels and accents. My car includes:

-painted on windshield wipers
-a license plate from "Catifornia"
-head lights
-tail lights

Step 9: Ready to Roll!

Add your pet and your project is ready to hit the road... or just keep it in the house for safety's sake.

The End!
