Two days ago I felt really bored and after thinking a bit I thought why not make myself one of those cool pinball machines that are there at videogame centers...so then I started searching for materials and after a lot of searcch these are the materials I used :

Cardboard
6 Chopsticks
Duct tape
(Red, Blue, White, Black)
BBQ Sticks
Toothpics
Wire
Rubberbands
A Spring

So I made the frame of the pinball machine from cardboard by just making a small cardboard box sort of thing!
And then to make the launching mechanism that will launch I used a chopstick and cut it in half and then glues 2 pieces of cardboard on the top and bottom and then just put a spring in the center and as you press the top the spring will get pressed as it will be attached to cardboard and that will make the launcher launch the ball once pulled back!

The flippers were the easiest as all I had to do was to make sure they were moving around a pivot and then use elastic bands to make the spring back action once hit!

Then I added a rotator wheel and two bumpers and a triangle supporter and some tracks!
The mission of this game was to make sure that you go on the track and finish it without dying in less than 5:00 mins!
I passed the lower mission....the lower track once but never passed the higher track... :(
My friend on the other hand is really good with this so he passed the lower mission 4 times and the higher mission twice!
We both played for 10 turns....

Chopsticks really came in handy to make the frames for the rotator, the triangle, the bumpers, the tracks support and even the launcher!I thought of using BBQ ssticks for supports but they were just too weak!

Here is a video of it in action! The video was made before I added the duct tape decoration so it doesn't look as good as the pictures in the video....

Enjoy watching the pictures!

You should SO make an instructable! This is awesomazing!

My mom threw away this one coz she says there is no space in the house :(

I might make another one and if I do then I will take pictures of it being made and post an instructable :)

Glad u liked it

Have you thought about wiring in some LED's and possibly an audio track so as to have similar sound effects? And maybe figure out a way to have the flipper really spring up by a button like a real one. Other than that, great idea! Love it!
vishalapr (author)  ejohnson162 years ago
You mean the flippers somewhat like this?
http://www.instructables.com/id/Pinball/

But because mine was small and made out of cardboard...not wood or plastic...it was a bit hard...

Even if I wanted to make it with wood or plastic, I cannot because the only tool I have is a glue gun...and some srpay piants...not even a dremel... :(
Yes, sort of. But I understand with the lack of supplies- I admire your ingenuity! I also have very few tools but I usually borrow any tools I need for bigger projects.
I've been trying to make this but I don't have any time. I'll reply with a picture if I get to making this. Still though- great project!

Its not the cost of the tools that's a bother for Recently I was stopped for using my gluegun for a month! Because I spread glue all over the house while working with it...so yeah...

Hope you get the time to make it!

I want you to make an instructable and will use this comment to tell you something.

In this community we give away tecnologic solutions and explanations freely, being proud to share a discovery or a knowledge.

It is not that you are charging anything mind me, but I find at least irritating this part.

"So if you really want me to make an instructable on this just comment and I will soon if I recieve enough people asking me to make it!"

We are re aders and contributors to this community and like to see everyone's work, but ( I speak for myself) I am not the bloody audience of anyone.

You want to tell us how you did? I'll be very happy to read it, but asking for an applause is narcissistic and frankly quiet rude.

Now, please, would you be so kind to tell us how you did that? Or not? Your choice.

Sincerely

Hmm...the only reason that was there was because I thought that no one would actually want to make it...so I just wanted to see if anyone was interested...Im not a perfect english speaker...as Im not fro US or UK or any other english speaking countries...so maybe I put it the wrong way....

Anyways, sorry to irritate you and others who feel the same and I removed that line...

And about the instructable,I don't have many pics of the making...and don't have much time as school started...so if I get time I will make an ible!

Thanks for the feedback...I remember not to mean again!

what does this have to do with camera/photo skills...?
vishalapr (author)  iiiiaann2 years ago
Anything related to pictures is acceptable so...but the most themed one will win so definitely I am not going to win...

could do...will do...soon....!!!
Really great project! I think you could have done better on the build though. That good of an idea could turn into something truly incredible if more time and thought were dedicated to it. You have most of the working parts figured out. I think you should make another and spend a whole weekend or more polishing it into something you could be proud to have as a permanent fixture in your mancave.

One reason is the space which I told below and another reason was becasue I have no cutting or gluing tools so I could not use wood.... :( or plastic or metal... :( All I could use was cardboard and chopsticks and BBQ sticks etc...I used to have a glue gun but now I don't even have that....so....yeah...
vishalapr (author)  NightHawkInLight2 years ago
I actually wanted to make one that is twice as big and already made the entire plan for it and it was going to be a lot better than this, but then my mom said there is not enough space in the house for such a big thing and then all I could do is minimize the plans and erase some stuff out, and then all I was left with is this...
Not bad! Looks like fun!
Very cool! It has some problems with that spinner thing, but for a quick project, great! I can tell it would be very addicting to play, cogratultions, you just made a brilliant machine!
5* as I am feeling generous :)
vishalapr (author)  Michaelgoode2 years ago
Ya I did work on the spinning thing so that the ball rolls off if it hits the support for the spinner.
Thanks for 5* ^_^
