Introduction: Caretaker's Gear V2.0 (more Portable)

We often see people who are disabled and are not able to do their work alone and need help at every moment .. Sometimes they can caught up with sudden heart arrest , urine block , and many more. At that time the old age people are not in the condition that they can first aid themselves ,so they need help from us and we should do because they had grown up us to become teenagers and adults .It is our duty to help our grandparents and parents . But we have our own works due to which we can't stay with them the whole time .Caretaker gear is an innovative solution for detecting and locating a person whose health in in grave danger. It's mostly designed as a remote rescue system for people who are at risk of having stroke, cardiac arrest and heart attack.There are certain health conditions that are completely unpredictable. People who are at risk of collapsing, cardiac arrest, heart attack and stroke are most likely to be found dead when it's too late. According to CDC, heart-failure ranks first in their list of the top leading causes of death while stroke ranks fourth.According to a statistical research conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The leading cause of death was heart diseases while stoke ranked 5th. Some of the causes of death had the same thing in common, they were quite unpredictable.And this one is made from only a remote controlled car circuit board ,very common and cheap. Here's a video of its working :-

Step 1: More Portable and Efficient

As we know that the remote control circuit board is very portable ,so this could be changed into a portable watch by adding some sorts of l.e.d. s and vibrator for indication and the circuit has been explained in the diagram of next step.This is made of a simple circuit from a remote control car using its transmitter and receiver , the whole known as the transceiver . The transmitter remains with the patient and the receiver with the caretaker modified into watch and adding some constituents.

Step 2: Working

Working is similar as of earlier one but is very efficient than that.As we know that the remote control circuit board is very portable ,so this could be changed into a portable watch by adding some sorts of l.e.d. s and vibrator for indication and the circuit has been explained in the diagram .

Step 3: The Transceiver

We can get it easily from a working r/c car by opening the car and its remote . But make sure about the wires where they should be connected to like the gnd,vcc,f,b,l,r and antenna etc.

Step 4: Initial Joints

In indication 1 we will connect only one buzzer to the l and r wires or f and b wires.

Step 5: Join the L.E.D

The main indication component is used as an l.e.d . Check the terminals and then attach them and make to test it before soldering.

Step 6: Switch

The most important thing is the switch . That gives us the control over the circuit . You can simply join it with the one terminal of the battery and the other wire of the switch to the gnd / vcc wire .

Step 7: Covering It Completely

Cover the whole circuit board and the wires with the duct tape except the switch.

Step 8: Making Outer Cover

You just need a small piece of cardboard and a pair of scissors to pierce holes through the cardboard . We just need 1 hole or can be modified according to our circuit . In my circuit board only 1 switch was presently working so I made one indication for this . This depends upon you , how many indications you want to make.

Step 9: Opening for Switch

Cut a small piece of cardboard with its dimensions and folds as shown in it and then tape it around the main box of gear.

Step 10: Attaching Steampunk Antenna

Just take a long thin copper wire and then roll it around the screwdriver to make a spring like look and then attach it to the antenna wire on one side and with tape on another side.

Step 11: Making Strap

We can make the strap by using a duct tape , cloth piece , leather , plastic etc . I used the cloth elastic for this task. For this you need not to keep any gap in the circular strap for the fitting of any person's hand either fat or slim . Instead of cloth elastic material ,duct tape is also more suitable and durable .

Step 12: Proper Finishing

Just tape a broad duct tape around the box and strap to make a gear . And after this your wearable gear is ready!

Step 13: Things Required to Make Tranmitter

This a very simple task .We just need a remote for that circuit to make a handy transmitter.

Things required are :-

  1. duct tape
  2. scissors
  3. transmitter
  4. battery
  5. cardboard

This is all we need to make this!

Step 14: Cut Cardboard for Box

Cut proper dimension cardboard pieces and then make a box from it and then tape it to make a strong box leaving spaces for l.e.d ,switch and push button.

Step 15: Fitting

Make fitting of everything in the box and then carefully tape it for security .Don't forget to join the antenna wire to the small broken antenna giving it a steam punk look!!

Step 16: Final Finishing

If desired,you can also add a strap to the transmitter for a nice approach. To make it waterproof tape it all around . And your transmitter is ready too!

Step 17: My Confidence Regarding This

This is simply a truth that I feel very confident when I wear this band . During testing period I thought it to be more improved than original one . But it is needed too. because during bad times it would make me alert to help my loved ones . This might be a good idea for this ageing community and their health!
