Introduction: Carniverous Alien Legwarmers

These fuzzy alien creatures are starving and have a taste for human brains.  Unfortunately they are somewhat short and will have to start with your legs.

Step 1: Gather Supplies

Green minky fabric, 1 yd
Brown rib knit fabric, 1 yd
small amount of felt, black and white
Fabri-Tac
Scissors, rotary cutter, and cutting mat
Rulers
1/4 inch elastic, 3 yds
small amount of polyfill
all purpose thread
sewing machine
serger with thread

Step 2: Cut Fabric

Lay out the minky and cut 2 rectangles, each 17 X 25 inches.  Make sure that the stretch goes agross the width.  You want it to stretch around your leg not down it.
Repeat with the rib knit fabric so that you have 4 rectangles total.

Lay the minky on the table with the rib knit on top, right sides together.

Serge across the short sides (17inch).

Turn right side out.   Repeat with the other fabric pieces.

Step 3: Add Elastic

Now you'll need to make the casings for the elastic.
You need one at each end of the legwarmer and another to make the creature's head.

Measure 1 inch away form each short side.  Mark a line across with chalk.
For the creature's head, measure 3 1/2 inches down from the top casing line and mark across with chalk.  Measure 1 inch down for the elastic.

Stitch down the chalk lines on the sewing machine.

Cut elastic to fit and pull through each of the casings. Pull slightly and secure each end with the sewing machine.  You don't want the elastic to be very tight or it will be uncomfortable.

Step 4: Finish Sewing

Stuff the head segment lightly with polyfill.
Pin long edges together with right sides together.
Serge the long sides.  Do this for both legwarmers.

Turn legwarmers right side out.

Step 5: Add Eyes and Teeth

Take the white felt and cut 2 rectangles measuring 2 X 6 1/2 inches.
Cut triangles out across one edge of each rectangle for teeth.
Use Fabri-tac to attach teeth inside of the lip.
Cut lemon shapes out of the black felt for the eyes.
Attach to the head with Fabri-tac.
Let it dry before wearing.
