Introduction: Caterpillar House

About: I love my baby boy Rango! He is a bearded dragon and he is my world!!!

This is how to make a cute little caterpillar house which is safe and fun for the whole family. Kids and adults can have tons of fun watching their caterpillar grow and become a beautiful butterfly ready to set free into the world! By taking in caterpillars as pets, you are boosting the amount of butterflies in the world incredibly as butterflies are becoming more and more uncommon because of predators eating them when they are caterpillars.

Step 1: A Jar or Box

You are going to need a glass jar to house up to 3 medium caterpillars or a box to house around 7+ medium caterpillars.

Step 2: Some Leaves

Next you are going to need a supply of leaves. Take a bunch of leaves from where you found the caterpillar(s) as these are probably their host leaves. (main diet) Pop these into the jar. You may want to add some paper towel at the bottom to prevent a messy clean up. (when they poop)

Step 3: Some Sticks and Twigs

Like I said before, if you are going to house more caterpillars, the more you are going to need. Use twigs for up to 3 and sticks for 7+. It doesn't really matter though. Place these around the jar for something for them to climb on and when they are ready, to hang from in their cocoons.

Step 4: Water

Caterpillars don't really need water. They get all the moisture and nutrients from their plants. But if you think that they look a little dry, spray a bit of water on their leaves with a water mister. Caterpillars like it slightly humid. If you find any condensation, wipe it up immediately.

Step 5: NO NO NO!!

DO NOT FEED YOUR CATERPILLARS DEAD OR CRUNCHY LEAVES! THEY WILL REFUSE TO EAT THEM AND STARVE TO DEATH! REFRESH THE LEAVES EVERY DAY!

Step 6: Enjoy!

Please enjoy your new pets and don't forget to ask me any questions about your caterpillars in the comment box below!! If you tried this craft please post pictures in the comments and hit the "I Made It" button immediately!!! Can't wait to see them! Thanks Bye!
