I made this airplane by cutting out the different pieces of it from a cereal box. I google image searched biplanes to get an idea of what I wanted to do. Using a ruler and a pencil, I drew out the shapes on the inside of the cereal box. I cut them out using scissors.

I apologize for the poor picture quality, they were taken on my cell phone because I do not own a cell phone

This project was fairly easy to make. You can print out pictures of planes and trace them or sketch them onto the cereal box. I was feeling adventurous, so I did it by hand. It does take some patience, waiting for the glue to dry before adding on the next piece.

Step 1: Materials and Tools

MATERIALS
Cereal Box
Glue
Toothpick
Wire Hanger
Random bits of plastic/ rubber (for wheels)

TOOLS
Pencil
Scissors
Ruler
Pliers ( for the wire hanger)

Step 2: Putting It All Together

Once all the pieces are cut out, I glued them together using wood glue. I used toothpicks to hold up the pieces and keep them stable while the glues dried.

Step 3: The Wheels

For the wheels, I used these round bits of plastic I found lying around and glued them to small lengths of wire hanger, then glued them to the actual plane.

Step 4: Conclusion

Please leave any comments, questions, suggestion or improvements. If you try this yourself please post a pic.
Thanks.

this is awesome and simple. My son is 3 and has to make a land, water, or air vehicle for class and I was panicking! He's 3! But he can totally do this with my assistance. Thank you

Nice design!

When I was a kid, in the pleistocene, I would ask my mother empty cardboard boxes like that, for manufacturing my own gliders. Trying to blow them I learned many secrets of aerodynamics. The fuselage was often made with a piece of junk, recovered from an old roller blind.

Thanks for make me remember those days!
