Chalkboard T-Shirt

Like to change what your shirt is saying on a whim? Then the Chalkboard T-shirt is for you! Always have the coolest slogans and images with this nifty shirt.

Step 1: Supplies

For this project you will need the following:
- Chalkboard Fabric (Get It Here)
- An old t shirt
- velcro

Step 2: Cut the fabric

First you want to cut the chalkboard fabric to your desired size. I did a 12" by 12" square.

Step 3: Attach velcro

put one side of the velcro on the chalkboard fabric and do the same to the t-shirt.

Step 4: Posistion the square

Find out how you want the square to go, then place it down so you get it right.

Step 5: Sew on the velcro

Lastly, sew the velcro on so it doesn't come off, you can use a sewing machine or hand stitch.

Step 6: Draw on it and you're ready to go!

Create a cool design and you're done! Have fun with your nice new t shirt!

when you clean the T-Shirt does it get affected the Chalkboard or not ... mean can it be used again with the same effect

it would be a little cleaner looking if you cut a smaller rectangle out of the front of the shirt, made small slits in the corners, folded the edges over, pinned them, and then sewed the chalkboard fabric to the shirt from the inside, while at the same time sewing the folded over edges.

That's cheating! You use chalkboard fabric, it would be 10x as awesome if you painted on the shirt with chalkboard paint!

You stole my comment. :-) Put cardboard/chipboard inside the shirt. Mask of a big square, and paint with chalkboard paint. Brilliant! My kids will love this!

I would use several coats to make it stiffer, and a more wash resistant application.

Chalkboard Fabric is actually just Oilcloth, an old school way of making fabric waterproof before plastic was commonly available. There's a how-to here:
