Cheap DIY Projector screen for under $30

This is a 16:9 ratio projector screen 100" Perfict for a basement game room,home Theater,computer monitor,(ect). This Project will run you $30 - $40 depending if the blackout cloth is on sale.

So here's the list of materals

Lath wood $7.99 (10) sheets
black Spray Paint $.98
Circular Sander drill attachment $4.00 "do not do this by hand you will kill your self"
Staple gun or get staples for it staple gun $14.99 or Staples $1.99
Nails "I used finishing nails for the whole project"
Blackout cloth $5.99 "i got it for $2.99 on sale and my mom works their so i got a discount"
tacks "These are great when you are stretching the cloth over the first layer of lath to eliminate wrinkles"
saw "hand saw will work'

Step 1: Sketching on the Wall

For this step you will need a level and pencil.

This is kinda a two man Project, so grab a friend, family member, or you can try to do it by yourself i did but it will take longer.

What you need to do is find where the bottom of the screen is going to be and go 87" across the bottom (MAKE SURE ITS LEVEL) the do you vertical line which is going to be 49" (AGAIN MAKE SURE ITS LEVEL AND IS EXACTLY 90 DEGREES TO YOUR BOTTOM LINE ) This will be your screen size .

Step 2: Lath Wood

In this step you will need: lath wood ,spray paint, sander.

Many people say that lath wood is Unsandible, yes i just make that word up, but people say is can not be done. I disagree, it cant be done if you are not using a circular sander.

so lets get started

When you get your lath wood you will notice it is not straight, this is Ok lath is no lath is.
First sand your wood until smooth do this for all of them (ONLY ONE SIDE NEEDS TO BE SANDED) now take your lath and put it under the pencil mark. REMEMBER LATH IS NOT STRAIGHT SO PUT THE LATH UP TO THE LINE UNTIL IT STARTS TO BEND THEN MARK IT AND CUT IT AND DO NOT DISCARD THE THE LEFT OVER WOOD SIMPLY PUT IT RIGHT NEXT TO THE PIECE YOU CUT IT FROM AND KEEP GOING UNTIL YOU FIRST LAYER IS DONE. YOU ARE NAILING IT TO THE WALL.

Step 3: BLACKOUT CLOTH

This step requires blackout cloth,tacks,and staples/staple gun

Blackout is relay just is a special type of curtain backing. they use it in the thermal curtains that reflect light out. you will need 92 by 54 or what ever as long as its longer than your base frame " I use the double fame because of the WII and the XBOX 360 motion sensors". Now get your tacks and put the fabric around the screen and to get rid of the wrinkles. Now just staple the fabric to the lath " I used the vinaly side of the fabric because it looked easier to clean".

Step 4: FINAL STEP

for this last step you are going to need a hammer, nails, and saw
now for this last step you will take your lath and hammer and nail it on top of the fabric match it up with your previous lath and nail it the same way picture on this look great. I will put a picture up in a couple weeks of the quality the cameras broken and a web cam will not do it .
