Introduction: Cheap, Easy Blowgun Dart for Larger Blowguns

A cheap and easy way to make a very effective blowgun dart. The dart is about 5 inches long and works best with a large medium-large sized blowgun. Way more durable than the paper cone darts and just as effective. When shot from a decent blowgun, this dart easily sticks in wood and cardboard is nothing.

Caution: Never shoot at or near people or animals.
This is a dangerous dart and could cause seriouse damage to people animals or property. I am not responsible for anything that you may do with this dart.

You will need:
1 nurf/foam bullet
wire cutters
1 metal coat hangar
duct tape
scissors

Step 1: Cut the Hangar and the Foam

You will need to cut off the bottom section of the coat hangar. I prefer to cut a 6 inch peice for my darts, but you can choose how long you want yours as long as it is close.

You will also need to cut the rubber tip off of the foam tube. Underneath you will find a small rubber hole. You should leave the rubber hole there.

Step 2: Wrap It Up

Cut a peice of duct tape about five inches long. Cut a strip about a quarter of the width of the duct tape and wrap it tightly around the same spot about 1-2 inches from the top of the metal rod. Make sure that the roll is small enough that it will fit inside the foam tube.

Step 3: Slide on the Foam

Put the metal bar through the foam tube, then through the small rubber hole. Slide the foam all the way over the duct tape roll until it touches the rubber hole.

Step 4: Secure the Foam

Take another thin strip of duct tape and wrap it just below the foam. Wrap until the roll is almost as wide as the foam tube.

Step 5: Tighten the Whole Thing Up

Take a thin strip of tape that is only a few inches long and tightly wrap it around the foam tube toward the business end.

Step 6: (optional) Sharpen

This step makes the dart even more dangerous, but much more effective. You can use a grinder or file to sharpen the dart.
