i found that the aluminum foil ones can break
have to use excessive pressure
then after watching the review on the pogo stylus which is a rip off $24.99 Yikes!
this instructable will allow you to create 3+ for 20 dollars or less
and it works well

what you will need

1X mini aluminium tripod usually less then $10 (each leg resembles a Bic pen.)
or you can use a aluminum pen case or just apply putty over an object like a Bic pen casing
1X package Crayola model magic clay less then $5 (can be found at most drugstores or Toy stores)
1X electrical tape $.99 a roll
1X scissor

Step 1: Step 1

once you have a mini tripod strip the 3 leg cylinders of it use whatever you can to remove them
thats the main component the leg.

Step 2: Step 2

roll your model magic putty so you can place in the cylinder

Step 3: Step 3

fill cylinder with putty and leave about 1/3 inch out
that will be the tip.

Step 4: Step 4

smooth out the edge don't make it to big it will expand as it dries slightly.

Step 5: Step 5

cut about 1 1/2 inch of electrical tape
then wrap it snug between the cylinder and magic clay

Step 6: Finished

let the tip dry over night at least 8 hours longer the better
if you want to shape it
don't make it to small as it can crack off
you will be amazed how well it works!

i am

enjoy!
Instead of using a leg from a mini tripod I used a barrel from an old airsoft gun that broke.
I had no idea that model magic was conductive, that's pretty cool. I may have to do some experimentation with it. Do you have to have contact with the material (or aluminum to material)? Or will model magic work by itself stuck on the end of a pen or something?

If that were the case, I'd try to convert a Retractable Sharpie into a retractable stylus
You would probably need to use something that is conductive.
Plastic sharpie bodies would not work.
well you could do that, but it would have to come in contact with whatever your hand is touching on the pen
UPDATE: I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT ONCE THE MATERIAL COMPLETELY AIRDRIES IT LOSES THE ABILITY TO DIRECT CURRENT SO YOU MAY HAVE TO TAKE A LITTLE OFF THE TIP TO USE IT SO LETS SAY FOR NOW ITS A TEMPORARY PEN I HAVE TO RESEARCH OTHER EFFECTIVE MATERIALS WILL KEEP YOU UP TO DATE
I found out play-doh also works, maybe try getting the oven dry stuff
Apply a layer of thin solder on the tip...?
Great post! I had some thanks to a 4 year old in the house... I just found a metal pen and rolled a nub of the stuff over the end and VOILA!

Thanks!!!!

you can get an alumanum camra leg things from the doller tree

Looking forward to the update!
You could use a circuit tracing pen. http://shop2.frys.com/product/2931025 to coat the end of the clay and draw it to the aluminum shaft.
