Be a pirate. Get Adobe Bridge, Photoshop, After Effects, whatever. Just one Adobe After Effects CS4 license is $1000, so if you don't have money to blow, there you go, Joe.

 I have final cut express 4 and it has chroma key capabilities.

You can play with camtwist for free.  It is pretty poor at chroma keying, but it's free and you can play around.  (You can also use it with skype)
