Introduction: Cheap Small Electric Lock Gun

About: Hi there! I am a student living in the UK in senior school or what Americans would call High School. I am completely obsessed with electronics and space flight and one day I hope to be a aerospace engineer. I …

In this instructable I will show you all how to build a cheap electric lock gun which can easily be concealed and also built from recycled parts.

Now onto how to build this thing.

Step 1: Parts List & Tools Needed

All of these parts were salvaged from various products but I will also provide links to the relevant products.

Tools needed

  • soldering iron
  • solder
  • super glue
  • pliers
  • wire strippers (optional)
  • craft knife

Step 2: Electrical Stuff

First solder the male battery connector to the battery and insulate the connections using either electrical tape or heat shrink.

Next to make the circuit board I have provided both a circuit diagram and a close up of the actual circuit to help you build it. It is simply a switch breakout so not complicated. Once your done connect up your battery and see if it works.

Step 3: Putting It All Together

First get out some super glue, apply some to the rumble motor, then stick it securely to the aluminium bar. Next feed your wires around so they seat neatly and dont get in the way of anything and then superglue the pcb on to the bar. Next get out your velcro and affix the battery just below the motor. Finally affix the tool head in place. If you dont want to glue the tool head you could use a bolt or a similar method to attach the tool head.

Then you're done!

Step 4: Conclusion and Review

Before all of you go into the comments section and tear my head to shreds, this lock pick although not looking very good, has been able to pick a few locks with decent success. You could very well upgrade the pick with a more powerful motor and a bigger battery but this was a proof of concept, if a rudimentary lock pick could be built cheaply and could be easily concealed.

In the future I do intend to revise it with a newer version which will have the ability to pick much more complex locks.
