Ummm YUMMY! This is a super simple recipe and cheap recipe at that. It's good for slumber parties, game day, parties, or when you are home alone drinking wine & playing video games.

Ingredients:
1 unsliced loaf of (round is preferable) sourdough bread
8-12 oz cheddar cheese, thinly sliced
3 oz bag Oscar Mayer Real Bacon bits
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 Tbsp Ranch dressing mix

Using a sharp bread knife cut the bread going both directions. Do not cut through the bottom crust. Place slices of cheese in between cuts. Sprinkle bacon bits on bread, making sure to get in between cuts. Mix together butter and Ranch dressing mix. Pour over bread. Wrap in foil the entire loaf in foil and place on a baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Unwrap. Bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until cheese is melted.

Just made one for myself and it was delightful! Used blue cheese dressing instead of ranch and threw some green onions on there for good measure.

I made it for my family's Christmas party. It was barely out of the oven before they were pulling off chunks, and by the time I put a plate of food together for myself, there was nothing left but the bottom of the bread, and my cousin was munching on that.

Found with two people makes putting the cheese and bacon in a breeze. My dad slid the knife in the cut and turned it to the side to help spread it while I'd pack the cheese and bacon in.

Great recipe.

I like the team work trick! I'll have to give that a try next time. Glad you enjoyed it!

Since I agree this is impossible to resist - make it using smaller artisan rolls like ciabatta or small boules! That way when you eat a couple of them you can tell yourself "well it was ONLY two rolls!" ;-)

That sounds like a great idea!

Tried this last night, I must say it was pretty tasty! I accidentially poured too much of the butter/ranch mixture on one spot and it made that one part super salty. Awesome quick & easy recipe!

Now I feel sick..

NOT because I find this in any way disgusting but because I went straight to the shops on my way home to get the ingredients and now ate almost half the loaf on my own!
I can see how this would make great party food!

Don't feel bad... the first time I made it, I had the same results!
