Children's Hospital Gown

Children\
This gown is so simple to make, and the possibilities are unlimited: camouflage, princess, bling, sports, trains, Elmo, Christmas, Easter, etc. A child in the hospital is an awful thing, so anything you can do to make them feel better is worth doing.

Begin by cutting out the fabric pieces. Use the shape of a basic V-neck, with extra hem length. The picture shown is for a toddler-sized gown and can be enlarged as needed. You should cut out one front piece, two back pieces that mirror each other, and one front pocket.

I changed the pocket on the one I made. I just edged the opening in biase-tape and put the pocket a little below the opening. I sewed 4 pieces of soft vel-cro on the gown over the opening, on each side of it and under the pocket. I then put matching vel-cro mates on cartoon appliques. My camera grew legs so I can not take a picture right now. Thank you for the idea now I am going to try to make some that look like Halloween dress-ups to donate to our local peds unit we use.
