Step 1Ingredients for Cupcakes:

8 Slices of Bacon *I live in Canada, and I just used thin packaged bacon, but whatever kind of Bacon you use, make sure it can get really crispy.
1 Cup of Unsalted Butter *This is a must, since the Bacon itself is so salty.
½ Cup of Cocoa Powder
¾ Cup Water
2 Cups of Sugar
2 Large Eggs
1/2 Cup well-shaken Buttermilk
2 Tbsp. Vanilla Extract
2 Cups Flour
½ tsp. Baking Soda
1 tsp. Baking Powder
¼ tsp Salt
1 Cup of Dark Chocolate Chips or Wafers

I'll be honest - I'm a little repulsed by the whole bacon-chocolate thing. The idea of that combination makes me want to vomit. But at the same time, so many people seem to dig it that I am very intrigued. As a vegan, I will never, ever try this. Anyone want to offer a description of the taste? Sweet and salty, like chocolate pretzels?

Yeah you got the idea. Most vegans are closet meat eaters anyway, it's like family value republicans who cheat on their wives, those with the most values ussually turn out to be the biggest pervs, since you like to proclaim your veganess on the internet in bacon instructables I assume you are very vegan and eat a lot of meat behind closed doors, so have at it and tell us how it tasted.

TRY substituting BACOs for bacon. Bacos are tvp, not meat, but taste just like bacon. I like it better.

Regarding the effect of sifting: it would be great if recipes could give weight as an alternate measure for something like this. I know not everyone has a kitchen scale, but for those who do, it would eliminate volume errors resulting from things like sifting.

TIP regarding sifting flour: Sifted flour is less volume than unsifted flour so if you don't sift the flour, you may be adding too much flour which can also negatively effect the results.
Baking is not like cooking and requires more accurate measurement.

For the Buttermilk, you have 1/s Cup. Is that a typo perhaps? Should be 1/4, 1/3 or 1/2 Cup well-shaken Buttermilk?

Sounds yummy and I can't wait to try!
