Make Wooden Frame
Cut two 3.5" wood strips
Cut two 5" wood strips
tape all pieces together.  Tape the last corner with a tab of duct tape to use as a clasp (you will need to attach and remove it for each batch)

Silicone Putty Set Up
Measure out equal parts of silicone putty components and mix according to instructions
Spread out evenly in the frame
Place hex nuts
Wait 10 minutes

Cut Mold
Remove nuts from mold.  This can be tricky since you will have to unscrew them off the silicone.
Cut each section in half.  Trying to unscrew less-than-solid pieces can result in accidental cracking.
To make filled chocolate, cut out middle piece of silicone and sand to even out both sides.

Variation
I also made a smaller mold with different size nuts...and a wing nut : )

I didn't see the question, but was there a food-safe consideration with your mold choice? Brilliant intructable, by the way. Perfect for mending a broken heart.

Hey, would chocolate bolts work? I just thought of that since my screen name is "nutsandbolts" and I saw this on my email so why not bolts?
Mar 28, 2011. 2:16 PMDr. dB says:
A "fitting" variant on the theme, perhaps with dried-fruit-slice flat-washers?
...and you'll have to decide whether to go SAE or metric...?

This is utterly brilliant! I love them.
Mar 15, 2011. 7:23 AMSeamusDubh says:
One way to deal with the threading issue it to make the area of the mold smooth and use a tap to cut the threads like you would in metal.
Mar 17, 2011. 2:08 PMtundrawolf says:
No way! The reason I clicked on this instructable was because I saw the threads and wondered if there were actual nuts dipped in chocolate. The threads are an amazing detail that sends this instructable over the top! Congratulations!
