Step 1: Materials

you will need: any color clay (air dry works best) , sculpting tools or a toothpick , and googly eyes. Make sure you are working on a clean flat surface.

Step 2: Making the Body

First make a large ball out of clay. This will be the body. Next make a medium sized ball for the head. Last, make four small balls out of clay. These are the feet.

Step 3: Connecting the Parts

As you see in the picture, to connect the parts you gently squeeze the sides and press the edges down until it is smooth. Do this for the rest of your parts.

Step 4: Creating the Face

Now that all the parts are connected, you can add a face! Take your googly eyes and firmly press them into the top of the face. Then take your sculpting tool or toothpick and draw a mouth and nose. If you mess up just gently use your finger and smooth over it then try again. You can also add eyebrows, eyelashes, etc.

Step 5: Drying

Air dry clay should dry for 5 to 7 days in a warm spot that gets plenty of sunlight.

Step 6: Have Fun!

Clay animals ( and people) are really fun to make. Tip: if you drop your clay figure and it breaks, use clay glue to paste it back on. You can buy this at target and art stores.
